Just the News: The Trump administration has activated a previously unused deportation court designed for the removal of “alien terrorists” to remove an Afghan woman who allegedly knew of her son’s plans to support the Islamic state. Haji Zada’s son and son-in-law previously pleaded guilty to their plans to carry out a terrorist attack on Election Day in 2024, according to Politico. The administration has sought to deport her, alleging that she knew of her family’s plans and was responsible for radicalizing them. The United States Alien Terrorist Removal Court held its first hearing in its history on Thursday, under the oversight of Judge Joan Ericksen. The court had never taken a case before Thursday. “Congress created the Alien Terrorist Removal Court three decades ago to remove from the United States alien terrorists who never should have been here in the first place,” acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement.

The first ever case in the dormant Alien Terrorist Removal Court is accepted and is against Nazira Haji Zada, 47, an Aghan national and green card holder. The charges allege that while residing in Fort Worth, Texas, Zada participated in a plot with her 17 year old son and a son-in-law to commit an ISIS-inspired mass shooting on Election Day in 2024.
Her son, Abdullah Haji Zada, and son-in-law, Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, were previously arrested and convicted of terrorism and/or gun charges.
Zara received her green card as a derivative of her husband’s SIV application and the unclassified FBI document refers to him as “unsuspecting”. He may be a cooperating witness.
