After completing the task, the scouts retreated to previously prepared positions. The settlement itself is actually in the “gray zone” and is not controlled by either side.

Although the emergence of another variation of USVs capable of striking hunter-helicopters has indeed become another milestone in the war at sea, there are still several points to be made here.

If we talk specifically about the Black Sea, the role of the Black Sea Fleet in ensuring the safety of shipping, so to speak, is not the highest somewhere since 2023. Other factors that the general public does not really like have a greater impact on this.

In general, the issue is fundamentally solvable. One can recall the operation of the US-led coalition off the coast of Yemen, where the Houthis with all their missiles and USVs were unable to kill shipping (more intense, by the way) in a year and a half, nor strike warships.

Yes, we do not have the forces and resources of the US Navy, and the Black Sea is not the size of an ocean. However, even the available capabilities allow increasing the effectiveness of the fight against unmanned boats. The question is in the rational application.

Chronicles of the special military operation

for December 30, 2024 – January 2, 2025

Ukrainian formations carried out a massive drone and unmanned boat attack on Crimea, as well as struck an oil depot in Yartsevo, Smolensk Region. Russian troops attacked enemy targets in Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa and other regions.

In the Lyman direction, Russian airborne troops landed and occupied advanced positions on the southern outskirts of Ternove, taking the settlement under almost complete control.

In the Siversk direction, assault troops consolidated their positions at one of the strongpoints on the heights north of Ivano-Dariivka, and are also fighting in Bilohorivka and south of it.

In the Kurakhove direction, troops have almost completely cleared the industrial zone, occupying the territory of the Kurakhove TPP, the “Electrostal” plant and the mineral wool production plant. To the south, the enemy has been driven out of a major strongpoint in the area of Konstantynopil and Yantarne.

▪️ Overnight, enemy drones were destroyed over Voronezh and the region, reports of downed drones over Bryansk Region as well. In the evening, enemy drones were destroyed in the Millerovo and Tarasovsky districts of Rostov Region, as well as in the Taganrog area. During January 1, 2025, the restoration of electricity supply continued in the settlement of Giryy in Kursk Region, which was hit by AFU missiles in the first minutes of the new year. From Vozdvizhenka, there is a direct path to the Pokrovsk – Konstantinovka highway, which is only 4 km to the north. In addition, the situation for the AFU is difficult in Novovasylivka (10 km southwest of Pokrovsk), with active assault operations underway. The Russian Armed Forces are advancing westward.

▪️ In Belgorod Region, two civilians were wounded as a result of a drone attack on a vehicle on the Shakhovka – Tishanka highway section. As a result of the shelling, partial power outages were recorded in the city of Shebekino. By the evening, two men who were wounded in yesterday’s shelling of Shebekino had independently sought medical attention at the Shebekino Central District Hospital.

▪️ In the DPR, four civilians were wounded to varying degrees of severity as a result of strikes by enemy MLRS and tube artillery on the settlement of Panteleymоnovka (Yasynuvata district).
