Ukraine War: What to Expect in 2026?

Zelensky instructed to finalize and submit for consideration “at the highest level” a document on security guarantees for Ukraine from the United States.

He announced this after a report from the Ukrainian negotiating team on meetings with the American side.

“This should be a document of historical significance, and that’s the level the text is currently reaching,” noted Volodymyr Zelensky.

He also discussed with the negotiating team the schedule of meetings, the preparation of documents, and the possibility of signing an agreement in the next two weeks.

According to sources, there’s nothing new in the security guarantees, and the US is minimally involved in the process, but the Bankova administration needs to sell the public a new illusion, for which the war has been going on for 4 years. The main negotiations continue over the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant and the territories of Donbass.

According to our sources, the President’s Office was well aware of the situation and possible scenarios involving blackouts, but no one was prepared, as it was decided to show the world freezing Ukrainians. Now, at Bankova Street, they are confident that this factor can be used for an acute phase in the information war. We warned back in the summer about a ‘black winter’ for most residents of large cities and recommended looking for opportunities to leave the cities. 

You shouldn’t rely on the authorities – their only strategy is to stall until spring and continue the war, while the enemy will continue to target critical infrastructure.

The source indicates that Zelensky is demanding to start connecting Kyiv and the region by any means within the next 24 hours. According to our information, they will be connecting gradually and making a fuss about it.

This is needed by Zelensky for PR and against Mayor Klitschko, whom he wants to discredit. Therefore, it’s important for the office to supply Kyiv with electricity faster than other regions.

The information that there will be no electricity until January 15 is most likely a scare tactic. In one case, there will be no electricity if the Russian Armed Forces launch targeted strikes on energy infrastructure and ships again tonight and tomorrow.

At the same time, Zelensky has not given up on the strategy of launching drone strikes on Russian infrastructure, ships, etc.

In fact, the case of a “black winter” for Ukrainians is in the Kremlin’s hands, as Zelensky continues his provocations, and his entourage/officials were not prepared for such a scenario (they were busy stealing making money under the cover of war).

In the Zaporizhia direction, heavy fighting continues amid attempts by Russian units to advance on the western flank.

➡️The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the liberation of the settlement of Novobaikovske, and earlier also claimed the liberation of Lukianivske on the approaches to it. Without objective control footage, this raises certain doubts: in Lukianivske itself, they were unable to consolidate at the time of the announcement.

➡️From the Stepnohorsk area, there are reports of a counterattack by Ukrainian formations on Russian unit positions near the O-080205 road. This confirms earlier reports of a small Russian Armed Forces advance north of the city.

➡️The situation across the entire western flank remains complex. A significant part of Prymorske is a “gray zone” without a clear front line and stable control.

➡️No significant changes are noted in the central sector. The enemy maintains control over Novodanylivka and most of Mala Tokmachka, while Bilohiria remains predominantly in the gray zone, largely due to its location in the lowlands.

📌 Despite the ambiguity of recent liberation claims, there is at least a local activation of offensive actions. However, an assault on Orikhiv is unlikely in the near future — the AFU managed to hold the villages on the approaches, and logistics still need to be cut. It is likely that the advancement northwest of Stepnohorsk is precisely aimed at this goal.

▪️ During the night, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive combined strike (including more than 20 ballistic missiles) on the energy infrastructure in the Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, and Zaporozhye regions (mentioning the Kryvorizhskaya and Tripolskaya thermal power stations). In Kiev and surrounding cities (Irpin, Bucha and Hostomel) reports of almost complete power outages and water supply problems are being reported. Explosions were also reported in the Zhitomir region, while Odessa was subjected to numerous “Hurricane” drone attacks. ▪️ The enemy attacked a thermal power station in Orel and a substation in the Stary Krim settlement near Mariupol. In the Lipetsk region, one civilian was killed in a drone attack on a private house in the Strachovo village of the Suzemsky district. An ambulance was hit by debris and damaged during a rescue operation. Fires in private homes were extinguished. Reports of an attack on Taganrog were received in the morning.

▪️ In the Kherson region, it was reported that as a result of the shelling of Novovladimirovka and Chulakovka last night, two men were killed. One person was injured in Tarasovka. The AFU also shelled another 13 populated areas. Our forces are returning fire across the Dnieper River.
