Parvosuchus enters the LRT with Junggarsuchus
Müller 2024 described
a new basal crocodylomorph, Parvosuchus (Fig 1), nesting basal to Junggarsuchus (Fig 1) in the large reptile tree (LRT, 2321 taxa).
But that’s not how Müller 2024 nested it.
Figure 1. Parvosuchus from Müller 2024, colors added here. In gray: Junggarsuchus to scale.

Unfortunately, perhaps due to taxon exclusion,
Müller reported, “the new species nests with Gracilisuchus stipanicicorum [Fig 2] and Maehary bonapartei in a phylogenetic analysis. Its discovery fills a taxonomic gap in Brazilian pseudosuchian fauna.”
Junggarsuchus is not mentioned in the text.
Attempts at downloading the Müller analyses
were not successfully matched with software I have. The analysis used in Mülller 2024 is modified from the one in Müller et al 2023, the Venetoraptor paper, which failed to recognize that taxon was a new bipedal protorosaur, not a pterosaur precursor.
Figure 5. Gracilisuchus skull updated with new colors.

Basal bipedal crocodylomorphs rarely
enter academic analyses. This may be one more case of the same. Let me know if Junggarsuchus was tested in the Müller 2024 analysis.
Müller continues the myths
of the ‘Pseudosuchia‘ and the ‘Parareptilia.’ These continue in the academic literature due to taxon exclusion. The LRT minimizes taxon exclusion. Add pertinent taxa to your own analyses to reduce taxon exclusion.
