I am not a scientist, but I am definitely a nerd that loves to read a lot. Recently I had a friend ask me….”Paul, is the internet forever?” My answer, well, technically “yes”. Energy can’t be created or destroyed. So, if the Internet is pure energy, it can’t be destroyed. The waves that carry signals for the internet are the same kind of waves used for radio and TV. It is also the same kind of wave as for visible light, x-rays, and gamma rays. If there are aliens living in the Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy, which is approximately 25,000 light years away, they may be watching an old broadcast of 1957 “I Love Lucy”. Everything you place on the Internet, lives on forever in the vacuum of space. Remember that nasty email you were going to send your boss? At some point of time, you had a change of heart and deleted the email. Well, that email still exists, but no one on Earth is able to read it. That deleted email is now traveling in outer space for some alien to read. Okay, so we pretty much all agree that the Internet is forever…or is it? As the Internet radio waves travels into space, the information becomes wider and wider, so wide that it is impossible to piece it together. It’s like throwing a rock into the pond and the ripples become larger and larger, until you don’t see them anymore. The same thing happens to Internet radio waves. So, will the Internet eventually disappear? I know of two possible ways that the Internet will stay intact and live on forever. Here are those two ways:

1. If there is a Kardasher Scale – Class 5 civilization that lives somewhere in the universe, they would have complete control of all of the energy of the universe. This Class 5 civilization would be able to gather all of those Internet radio waves and be able to interpret everything on the Internet. This Class 5 civilization most likely would gather all this information and place the information into a Cosmic Library for future reference, in regard to our civilization here on Earth. Sort of like your Akashic Record.

2. Scientists say that time travel is possible. We can easily travel forward in time, but it is extremely difficult to travel back into the past. Scientists are now working on sending a particle back into time, they believe it is feasible. So, if this is true and the past still exists, that means when you did that ridiculous TikTok dance video in 2018, that video keeps beaming out into outer space from the year 2018. That TikTok video is forever and is constantly being beamed out into outer space.

So, when you ask me if the Internet is forever. Most definitely “YES”. Anything and everything are possible in this great universe!
