Archaeologists in Saudi Arabia have uncovered a stunning collection of 100 gold jewelry pieces dating back over 1,100 years to the Abbasid era. The pieces feature intricate floral and geometric motifs, with a large disc-shaped ornament inlaid with colored stones arranged symmetrically around a central design standing out among the rest.
According to experts, the ancient goldsmiths utilized advanced techniques such as hand-hammering thin sheets of gold, decorative embossing, and precise stone inlay within gold frames. These methods reflect the sophisticated metalworking tradition that flourished during the Abbasid Caliphate, which ruled much of the Muslim world from the 8th through the 13th centuries.
