Pair of Bears earn All-Pro votes as 2024 NFL All-Pro teams announced
It’s hard to classify this Chicago Bears season as anything but a disappointment.
While No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams flashed moments of brilliance, the Bears still withstood a 10-game losing streak before upsetting the Green Bay Packers in Week 18 to close out the 2024 campaign at 5-13 in the NFC North cellar as Williams went through significant growing pains.
However, there were a couple of bright spots for the Bears this season, and two players garnered votes as this year’s All-Pro Teams were announced.
While Chicago, understandably, doesn’t have any representation on this year’s All-Pro team, cornerback Jaylon Johnson and special teams ace DeAndre Carter received votes.
What Jaylon Johnson, DeAndre Carter Brought to Bears in 2024
Johnson, widely viewed as one of the premier cornerbacks in the league, had a stellar 2024 season, finishing with a career-high 55 total tackles and two interceptions. Pro Football Focus lists Johnson as the No. 18 ranked cornerback in the league, pointing out that opposing quarterbacks boast a meager 85.7 passer rating when throwing his direction.
Meanwhile, Carter averaged 9.2 yards per punt return and 31.9 yards per kickoff return this season.
The Bears need to land difference-makers this offseason if Chicago is going to make a run at displacing the Detroit Lions or Minnesota Vikings at the top of the NFC North, but, Johnson and Carter are two key contributors the front office can build around.
