Rumor Roundup; a Look at What Insiders are Saying About Jets
It’s not uncommon for a few tidbits of information to make its way to beat writers or NFL insiders in regard to the New York Jets. Who may be coming, who may be going and who could be staying.
Jets working to retain Jamien Sherwood:
This one comes from Zach Rosenblatt of The Athletic and does come as somewhat of a surprise. Sherwood enjoyed a career year in 2024 and proved to be a versatile linebacker in the middle of the defense. However, given Aaron Glenn’s preference for bigger ‘backers, we thought the Jets would retain Quincy Williams and let Sherwood walk as they worked to get bigger at the position. As it turns out, they may have both back next season.
Getting a close look at Jalen Milroe:
According to Turron Davenport of ESPN, the Jets took an extended look at Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe during the combine. While other signal callers were working out, Jets quarterbacks coach Charles London, whose primary background is running backs, put Milroe through a workout of his own. Pairing the best running quarterback in the class with a long-time running backs coach could help make the Jets ground game lethal.
Jordan Travis’ agent throws Jets under bus:
In a piece he did today for ESPN New York, Rich Cimini claims the agent of Jordan Travis blamed the team for “rushing” Travis, which led to a setback and prevented him from seeing the field in 2024.
“His rehab with the Jets was not the best,” his agent, Deiric Jackson, told ESPN. “They tried to rush him. It was too fast. There was pressure on the coaching staff and they tried to get him going sooner than the timeline really was. That caused the setback, and we had to shut him down completely.”
This isn’t the first time the team has been blamed for its handling of an injured player as both Mekhi Becton and Kelechi Osemeli come to mind.
Rodgers Staying at MetLife?
How much would the New York media eat this one up? After losing out on their pursuit of Matthew Stafford, the Giants are going the veteran route. With that in mind, Aaron Rodgers is one target the Giants are considering.
