It’s a homecoming for Pompano Beach native Lamar Jackson as he returns from a 3-game absence following a hamstring injury suffered in Kansas City during Week 4. And while all eyes will be on Lamar, the difference in the game will be found in Derrick Henry’s legs and the ball hawking of Kyle Hamilton.
Lamar averages 300 yards and nearly 4 tuddies per game against his hometown team but he’ll fall short of both marks, showing a little rust early. The environment, setting and overall excitement stemming from his return to the grass has Jackson sailing a few passes early on. Eventually he’ll settle down and get his groove on. Here’s what to look for:
- Lamar throws for 225 yards, 2 scores and 1 INT while exerting a little caution on the ground. He’ll have 4 rushing attempts for 33 yards.
- The King gets untracked against a Dolphins defense that gives up 137 yards per game on the ground. Look for at least one chunk run from Henry that goes 25+ yards on his way to a 145-yard night and another pair of scores.
- Isaiah Likely finally gets going with 4 catches for 55 yards and a TD.
- DeAndre Hopkins corrals 3 passes for 45 yards and a TD.
- Keaton Mitchell gets another 4 touches and chips in with 40 yards from scrimmage.
- Tua Tagovailoa will struggle behind the Dolphins 31st ranked offensive line. The Ravens register 4 sacks (c/o Messrs. Green, KVN, Jones and Lawson) and given the pressure, Mike McDaniel will lean on quick releases from Tua and that will play into the Ravens hands. Hamilton gets a pick off a tipped pass while Marlon Humphrey gets another in the end zone.
The Ravens odds to win the AFC North get better after Week 9. Their win combined with losses by the Steelers and Bengals leave them one game back of the Steelers heading into Week 10.

As we saw in the movement of last week’s Vegas line, so much of this game’s outlook depends on the health of Lamar Jackson. He’s been a full practice participant leading up to this game, and there’s been speculation that the murky reports around his participation last week were in part because the team wanted to preserve him for this game rather than giving him a quick turnaround. LJ has a tendency to go nuclear when he’s playing in his home state, and the Ravens have to hope that’s the case this week.
— Derrick Henry’s last performance propelled him up the record books, and the Ravens will continue to rely on him as Lamar gets his feet back under him. Henry exploits a Dolphins run defense that’s given up the fourth-most yardage of any team this season, as well as four runs of 40+ yards. The King finds the end zone twice, once on a goal line run and once on a run of 25+.
— Lamar’s day starts off a little rough as he tries to get back into the swing of things. He’ll be limited in terms of what the team wants him to do with his legs, and as a result, he tries to force a first quarter throw that isn’t there that results in a pick. By relying on his running backs, though, he’s able to hit his stride and pass for 200+ with at least one touchdown. In the spirit of bold predictions, we’ll say DHop reels that one in.
— The Tua-Jaylen Waddle connection strikes again for the second time in as many weeks, and Waddle shreds the secondary on a TD catch and run of 50+. Otherwise, though, Tua makes an ill-advised throw in the second half and Kyle Hamilton picks it off to set Baltimore up on a short field.
The Dolphins have the capacity to be dangerous and last week proves that. Even so, Baltimore will be riding high with the return of their two-time MVP, and they’ll operate with the urgency of a must-win game.

Coming off what could be a season-changing win, the Ravens welcome back Lamar Jackson and will field the healthiest team they have had since Week 1.
They play a very bad Miami team but it’s a Miami team that is coming off a big win in Atlanta and they are at home on a Thursday, which is always a big advantage.
I have seen people talk about how the Ravens need to make a statement tonight to show they are back. Personally, I don’t care how they win..I just want a win. I certainly could see a scenario where they win but don’t feel good about it but the win it’s the most important thing.
I expect Lamar to show some rust (especially early) and i don’t expect him to run much, if at all. I am expecting a very good Derrick Henry game and I’m hoping we see the offense continue to make strides. The speed of Achane and Waddle could give the Ravens trouble, so they need to be ready for that.

Lamar Jackson said on Tuesday afternoon that he’s 100% healthy and ready to go. He also said that he was the one that ordered the games and such out of the locker room. This is a man on a mission, and I think this game has a chance to be another huge offensive outburst with Lamar at quarterback. This was the perfect time to have two games in five days. The Ravens desperately need to stack wins and they have a great chance against a clearly inferior opponent.
The Dolphins have looked like a mess for the majority of the season, though they are coming off of a big win against Atlanta. Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane are their two main weapons to watch. Both are very speedy and can create splash plays.
Tua Tagovailoa isn’t a very good quarterback under pressure. He gets flustered easily and is very turnover prone. Getting pressure is going to be imperative to stunting this Dolphins offense, and if they can have a repeat performance defensively I think this one could get out of hand quickly.
— Lamar Jackson throws for 250+ and 3 touchdowns
— Miami has the 5th worst rush defense in the league. Derrick Henry will run for 125+ with a touchdown
— Malaki Starks will get his first career interception
— Isaiah Likely happened to return as soon as Lamar left. This connection will get back on track with Likely recording 40+ yards and a touchdown

It’s definitely a different feeling entering the new week, coming off a win for the first time since Week 2. With Lamar set to return this week, it’s hard not to see the Ravens coming away with a win here in Week 9, against a disappointing Miami squad. Yes, Miami is coming off a 34-10 win, despite entering as seven-point underdogs, but they’re in no way a team to be scared of. The Dolphins’ defense has struggled mightily against the run this season, giving up 145.0 yards per game on the ground, setting up a potentially explosive night for Jackson, Henry, and Mitchell.
— Jackson has a limited return, tossing for under 200 yards and one passing TD
— Henry remains the workhorse, carrying the ball 15+ times, for 100+ yards, and a TD
— Keaton Mitchell continues to make plays, this time finding the end zone for the first time since 2023
— Achane makes his plays against a limited front 7, totaling 80+ yards of total offense, and finding the end zone once
— Ravens pass rush picks up where they left off against the Bears, recording their first 3+ sack game of the season

Two desperate teams coming off wins makes this game a little more interesting now. It appears Lamar will play but how mobile will he be? I’m in Miami for the game and just happy there’s some hope now for the Ravens. I think the win against Chicago was a huge confidence boost and could be the catalyst to get them on a run.
The Ravens are back to playing with heart and Thursday night that will continue on both sides of the ball.

Like Most things when it comes to the Ravens, this game all depends on Lamar Jackson. Last week the whole world thought he was starting, only to have the rug pulled out from under our feet. This week seems clear however, Lamar is playing.
The Dolphins have been a little bit hot lately as they have gotten their run game going, and they have managed to get their defense to at least a fine enough level for NFL Standards.
I know some fans are thinking this is going to be easy, but I do think the Dolphins will actually put up a fight, making this game more stressful than the Bears game was.
— Lamar returns and plays well with two plus touchdowns
— Zay Flowers has a great game and goes over 100 yards
— Defense does struggle to get some stops and to handle the speed of the Dolphins

Obviously we can’t trust this team with legitimate injury updates, but for my predictions I am going to assume Lamar Jackson starts. Thursday night games are often ugly, and I definitely expect this one to be ugly too, especially with Lamar playing his first game in over a month.
— Jackson shows rust and is clearly less than 100%. He throws for under 200 yards and 1 TD. He runs for fewer than 40 yards.
— Derrick Henry rushes for 80 yards and 0 TDs.
— Keaton Mitchell has 40+ yards and 1 TD.
— The Ravens defense forces 2 turnovers: 1 INT and 1 fumble recovery.
— It won’t be pretty, but Ravens do just enough to get the job done and keep hopes alive.
