Fox sports analysts rip Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

It’s obviously clear that Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams needs to improve. Through the first seven games of the season, Williams simply has not lived up to the standard of being a number-one overall pick.

In the last two games for the Bears, Williams has struggled more than he had in other games this season. He has not thrown a touchdown pass since Chicago’s win over the Washington Commanders in Week 6. He has not had a game with multiple passing touchdowns since the Bears’ win over the Cowboys in Week 3.

Williams has struggled with simple layup throws and has made some bad decisions on crucial passes. He simply just needs to play better.

Do the Bears need to give up yet? Of course not. It’s still just seven games into a brand new and complex offense. However, it needs to be better.

Williams has often been critiqued and slammed since being drafted in 2024. That trend has continued due to his concerning play. On Tuesday, Fox Sports’ analysts Collin Cowherd and Nick Wright slammed the Bears quarterback. Wright critiqued Williams heavily, saying that Williams’ playing “just fine is a disaster.

More news: Chicago Bears insider says Caleb Williams wasn’t good enough

Cowherd mentioned on “The Herd” that “being fine” for Caleb Williams is not good enough, when having the weapons the Bears have and a talented play caller like Ben Johnson. Wright then went on to label the Bears quarterback’s current play as a “disaster.”

Via the Herd on X:

“He is a year and a half in, still shaky at what should be the easiest stuff. And that is concerning. “

Wright did go on to say he still believes Williams will turn out as the franchise quarterback we all hope for, but he isn’t as certain as he was.

Caleb Williams needs to be better, but there’s no need to panic just yet

Does Williams need to be better? Yes. Clearly. For example, the intentional grounding at the end of the second quarter against Baltimore. It cost the Bears some crucial yards. He’s also had throws that have been short of the sticks, costing the Bears first downs.

However, it’s still much better than the previous quarterbacks we’ve seen like Justin Fields and Mitch Trubisky. Williams is on pace to throw the most single-season passing yards in franchise history. If he can turn it around with some consistent football, he will have a chance to be the first Bears quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards.

Williams has still been making impressive throws throughout the season, including some Mahomes-like plays. However, he needs to simply just be more consistent.

Ben Johnson is clearly the right coach for him, and I’m still very confident they both can turn this around.
