Is a Cap Purge Ahead for the Ravens?
Just six weeks into the season the Ravens find themselves in a mess. They’ve fallen to (1-5) and sit at the bye with some big decisions to make. First, they need to determine if they are buyers or sellers before the trade deadline on Tuesday, November 4th, at 4 p.m. ET, less than 3 weeks away.
A huge factor determining whether the Ravens and GM Eric DeCosta will be buyers or sellers is their upcoming game against the Chicago Bears on October 26. Should the Ravens fall to (1-6) following that game, for all intents and purposes the 2025 season is over. No NFL team that starts the season at (1-6) has ever made the playoffs. DeCosta will undoubtedly become a seller. Consequently, it is unlikely that the Ravens will make any trades prior to knowing the out come of that game.
Moreover, if you look at the big picture moving forward, selling makes sense because the Ravens could have some massive financial concerns in 2026. A salary cap purge is not inconceivable.
