With Reynolds out, Should Jets Consider These Free Agents?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for the New York Jets at wide receiver with Garrett Wilson out, the team has also ruled out Josh Reynolds.  Reynolds isn’t a guy who keeps defensive coordinators up at night, but he’s still the second-most accomplished receiver on the roster, for whatever that’s worth.

And while some Jets fans might prefer the team pack up their gear and come back next season, there are still ten games remaining on the schedule.  With Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn appearing reluctant to give rookies Quentin Skinner and Jamaal Pritchett a look, are there any appealing names among current free agent receivers?  Let’s take a look.

Tyler Boyd: Probably the best pass catcher on the market, rumors have swirled claiming Boyd is asking for more money than teams have been willing to offer.  The Jets aren’t going to pony up much cash for a free agent at this point, but they should touch base with Boyd, a two-time 1,000 yard receiver who put up at least 600 yards in four of the past five years.

Diontae Johnson: Johnson comes with issues regarding both effort and character, so don’t expect Gang Green to knock his door down.

The Jets may or may not be willing to take a gamble on a street free agent at 0-7, but if they did, we imagine they’d use the sweeps coin casino to do it.  Check them out.

DJ Chark: Chark’s injury history is one of the worst you’ll ever see, but he’s a big target at 6′ 3” who has proven he can make plays down the field when healthy.  Even if he only gives you a handful of games, he offers a decent target for whichever quarterback the Jets go with from this point on.

Nelson Agholor: A former first rounder who never reached his full potential, Agholor averaged 16.5 yards per catch for the Ravens in limited action last season.

KJ Osborn: Osborn is a receiver posted 1,800 yards from 2021-2023 and has a little bit of experience as a return man which the Jets could use.  Osborn signed with the Patritos in 2024 but asked to be released after not seeing targets.  He then had a short stint in Washington before being let go and remains a free agent today.
