The Ravens beat the Browns in dramatic fashion last week to advance to (5-5) on the season. But it was hardly a symphony of flawless execution. Offensively the Ravens were sloppy and defensively, well let’s just say the MVP of Zach Orr’s unit was Shedeur Sanders. If Dillon Gabriel isn’t knocked out of the game with a concussion, we may be discussing a different outcome and a very gloomy forecast for the balance of the season.
Next up is a Jets team that is as bad as the Browns, arguably worse save for two return touchdowns totaling 173 yards that paved the way to the Jets 27-20 win over Cleveland in Week 10. Look for this game to look a lot like the gift the Browns served up on Sunday evening only this time, it’s the Jets who play Santa Claus.
- Lamar Jackson will be a lot sharper in this one, but red zone frustrations will continue. Lamar finishes with a 110 passer rating and 2 scoring throws from outside the 20.
- Derrick Henry and Keaton Mitchell combine 160 yards on the ground and a score apiece. Only Henry’s is a red zone score.
- Zay Flowers collects both TD receptions and finishes with 5 catches for 120 yards.
- Justin Fields will rush for 85 yards and 2 scores. He’ll throw for another and the analysts covering the game will get all excited about his potential when in fact his good fortunes are more closely aligned with the Ravens sluggishness on defense in what promises to be a trap game.
Ravens advance to (6-5) but it will come with a few scares as the Jets cover the 13 ½ point line.

The Ravens know that every game counts in this winning streak they’ve established, and they have another great opportunity with some home cooking against a Jets team that has struggled mightily this season. While I’d love to be able to tell you that this one would be a cakewalk, New York’s only two wins of the season have come against AFC North teams, and they gave Pittsburgh a run for their money in what would ultimately be just a two-point loss. No, I don’t expect that the Jets win this one, especially down their top receiving weapon and in the midst of a QB change, but they don’t have much to lose other than draft position.
— In what’s been a major relief to all of us, Baltimore’s defense is finally starting to tighten up. They took advantage of offensive errors against the Browns last week, and I think they do it again as Tyrod tries to readjust to starting duties. They’ll force multiple turnovers again in this one, and I’ll say Alohi Gilman comes away with a pick while John Jenkins recovers a fumble.
— With the subtraction of Quinnen Williams in the Jets run defense, New York’s ability to stop the run goes from bad to worse, and it allows Baltimore to get back to doing what they do best. Derrick Henry goes for 100+ and finds the end zone, but Keaton Mitchell adds a rushing touchdown of his own.
— Baltimore will take their foot off the gas late in this one and make it a little closer than it needs to be. After being burnt by Breece Hall early, the Ravens stack the box, only for Mason Taylor to rip a long TD on blown coverage in the secondary.
I’ll be going to this game, and I could use a fun NFL Sunday. Please, Ravens… I’m begging y’all, let’s make this a low-stress game.

This is a game where most people will be saying that if the Ravens don’t blow them out, something is wrong.
This Jets team isn’t good and now they don’t have Sauce, Quinnen and Garrett Wilson is out. Basically, their three best players entering the year are out.
But they have played some good teams tough. They have lost by less than a FG to the Steelers, Bucs and Broncos and they beat Cincinnati and Cleveland. So, while they only have two wins, they have still played hard at times.
And they have now turned to Tyrod Taylor. It is possible he is a downgrade from Justin Fields and Fields is certainly more of an issue running but Taylor is probably the better passer right now and he won’t be as overwhelmed at the LOS. So, we will see if he can make a difference.
For the Ravens, Lamar Jackson missed practice on Wednesday with a different injury, this time his ankle.
That’s now an ankle, knee and hamstring. I would guess we will continue to see him not running and knowing he has the Bengals on a short week, you would think he will be cautious.
That could lead to the offense sputtering some more although the run game should be able to be good, so that might be enough.
Another uglyish game is possible. Not as bad as last week but a game that is uglier than it should be. Lamar’s injuries, no Rashod Bateman and maybe some kind of a trap game could make it closer than we think. I think the Ravens win easily but people walk away still a little frustrated with the offense.

After a 1-5 start, Baltimore’s ability to stack wins has put them right back in prime position to take the AFC North for a third-straight season. The offense, however, has not looked the part over the team’s four-game winning streak. The Ravens offense has averaged an efficient 341.2 YPG, but has struggled to find the end zone, averaging just 2.7 TDs per game. They’ve leaned heavily on rookie kicker Tyler Loop within 50 yards, which has allowed the Ravens to stay afloat during their dry spell. It’s a recipe that won’t find much success come January. The Jets have handed the keys off to Tyrod Taylor, as New York enters Week 12 dead last in passing yards per game. On paper, the Ravens should have no issues covering the -13.5 point spread. Avoiding the “trap game” is key for Baltimore, who surely can’t afford to drop a game to a two win Jets squad.
— Henry remains a factor, picking up 90+ yards on the ground and TD
— The Ravens defense continues to improve, holding the opposing offense to under 230 yards in back to back weeks
— Jackson gets back on track, throwing for 220+ and 3 TDs

This game shouldn’t be a sweat in any form. The Jets offense has no real weapon in the receiving game without Garrett Wilson, and the Ravens have allowed just a shade over 190 passing yards per game over the last three weeks. Alohi Gilman’s play has allowed Kyle Hamilton to play freely in the middle of the field, and it has really cemented this defense together.
The offense looked rough last week, but AFC North matchups are always tough no matter who it is. The Jets also just dumped their two best defensive players in Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner at the deadline. Hopefully this one can be much easier for the offense.
— Keaton Mitchell runs for 50+ yards and a touchdown
— Malaki Starks records his third interception in the last four games
— Isaiah Likely scores his first touchdown of the season
— Many of the starters get to take the last few minutes of the game off in a big blowout, important with a quick turnaround

The New York Jets are awful. Now they are making a quarterback change with Taylor over Justin Fields. I would have loved to face Fields, but Taylor doesn’t scare me at all. I view this game as a get right game and a fine tuning before the gauntlet of a schedule begins.
— Lamar and Derrick Henry light up the Jets defense like a Christmas tree, with both of them having multiple touchdowns.
— Zay and Andrews both find the end zone and build up some confidence.
— The defense does its job and they continue their turnover streak they have going right now.

The last game of the “soft stretch” of the schedule is here, and the Ravens have gotten here 4-0. The Bears win certainly looks better now, and the Dolphins appear to have righted the ship too. It goes to show how volatile the nature of schedule strength is.
The Jets had won their first two games of the season before losing on the road to the Patriots. This includes a Browns team that, at least defensively, gave the Ravens all they could handle, and also a Bengals team that is staring Baltimore in the face. The Ravens simply cannot afford to take anyone lightly.
Tyrod Taylor is starting this game. At age 36, he is not objectively a better passer than Justin Fields, and he is not the threat Fields is while running. The bigger problem for New Jers… err, York is the absence of Garrett Wilson. The biggest threat in the passing game they have now is rookie TE Mason Taylor. This is a team very much like Cleveland in that they must rely on their run game, except their defense isn’t on the Browns level. And this is a home game for the Ravens.
I sure hope they aren’t looking ahead. They need this win just as badly as any that came before it. Especially with Will McDonald and Harrison Phillips limited in practice, I think this will be a comfortable win.

The Jets are already preparing for the NFL Draft. They sold off several assets at the trade deadline. This one shouldn’t be close, and it won’t be!
— Lamar throws for 300+ yards & 3 TD passes in 3 quarters.
— Henry rushes for 130+ yards and 2 TDs.
— Ravens force 3 turnovers.
— Keaton Mitchell adds a 4th quarter TD.
— Ravens starters rest up in the 4th quarter to get ready for a Thanksgiving night feast against a very “giving” Bengals defense!
