Insider doesn’t think Chicago Bulls make sense for superstar trade

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Chicago Bulls, Ja Morant

The Chicago Bulls are playing incredibly well this season, so much so that it could justify making a big trade to buff up the roster and really go for it. With Boston and Indiana both suffering major injuries, the East is pretty open, and the Bulls look like the sort of team that could sneak in as a top seed and make some noise this season. However, with one superstar possibly on the trade block already, one insider doesn’t see it happening right now.

Ja Morant has had some off-court struggles, which is why the Memphis Grizzlies may end up having to trade him. But when he’s on the court, his talent is undeniable. With the Chicago Bulls having a backcourt spot open with Coby White hurt, a move wouldn’t be shocking. And adding Morant means the Bulls would upgrade there and be able to move on from White or Ayo Dosunmu, both of whom have big contract decisions coming up.

With that said, the Bulls don’t seem a likely spot for Morant. Bleacher Report insider Eric Pincus discussed some options, and in “the field” section, discussing all the other potential avenues, he mentioned the Bulls. However, Pincus does not see them as a good choice since they’re playing so well right now. There’s no need to tinker with a 5-1 team that’s going to get its best scorer back soon.

“Similar wild-card options, the Utah Jazz could try to accelerate their timeline, or the Charlotte Hornets could prefer Morant over LaMelo Ball; neither jumps out as realistic. The Chicago Bulls may be playing too well to consider how Morant fits alongside Josh Giddey,” Pincus said. It would be interesting to see Morant and Giddey. The latter’s inclination is to be a playmaker for others, so one could imagine the impressive lobs from Giddey to Morant.

However, sometimes two players just don’t work out that well beside one another. That makes it unlikely that the Bulls, who are unfathomably hot to start the season, would consider attempting that pairing. It’s great on paper, but basketball isn’t played on paper. And if the pairing is bad, then things could go wrong. For now, things are somehow too good to try new things in Chicago.
