Notre Dame fired back at ESPN, the College Football Playoff selection committee, and the ACC by declining its invitation to the Pop-Tarts Bowl on Dec. 27.

The Fighting Irish exited the season with a No. 9 ranking, but dropped to No. 11 after blowout wins over Syracuse and Stanford. Amid the heated discussion about what to do with Alabama, Miami and the Fighting Irish, the ACC campaigned hard for ND’s demise.
Instead of setting its sights on Alabama, ACC coaches trashed the Irish. The conference decided to play the Week 1 contest between ND and Miami nonstop on its network.

Notre Dame superfan Shane Gillis ranted about the ACC during his appearance on The Film Guy.

The ACC hurt the Irish
Many Irish fans feel the same way.
Frankly, ND needs to reconsider its relationship with the conference. The ACC couldn’t even get its own structure right, setting up a conference championship dynamic where champion Duke was left out after an 8-5 record for James Madison.
The ACC is incompetent.
And this season, they’re weren’t a great partner.
Notre Dame shouldn’t have to boost the ratings of its weaker conference teams only to be treated like a pariah. The Irish could exit their agreement, putting pressure on programs like Clemson, Florida State, and Miami to seek a better conference.
