Bears could take defense to the next level if new prediction comes true
The Chicago Bears are fully focused on their season finale and then their upcoming run in the playoffs.
After an impressive season that started slow but picked up speed quickly, the Bears appear to be a legitimate contender in the NFC. There are still some doubters due to the team being young, especially on the offensive side of the football, but Chicago has the talent to win in the postseason.
With that being said, the Bears will also need to make sure that they continue building the roster during the upcoming offseason.
Last year, Chicago was very aggressive during the NFL offseason. Ryan Poles made quite a few moves in free agency and brought in elite talent in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’ll need to do the same if the Bears want to take another step in the right direction next season.
Keeping that in mind, a new prediction has been made for what Chicago could do in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
CBS Sports analyst Ryan Wilson has revealed a new mock draft that has the Bears selecting Clemson Tigers star pass rusher T.J. Parker with the No. 29 overall pick.
“Parker is an explosive, high-motor edge rusher with the juice to both collapse pockets with a bull rush and the bend to win around the corner,” Wilson wrote. “He’s stout and disciplined against the run, from setting the edge to blowing up plays in the backfield with his quickness. He shows surprising versatility, with the athleticism to drop into coverage from wide alignments and disrupt passing lanes.”
Throughout his three-year college career at Clemson, Parker racked up 127 total tackles to go along with 21.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and three defended passes.
Parker has the talent to become a legitimate star at the NFL level. Being able to snag him late in the first round would be a big-time win for Chicago.
Of course, it’s just a prediction. No one knows what the Bears will end up doing, but Parker would make an awful lot of sense for a Chicago defense that could use more of a pass rush.
