OTL: Ravens Add Respected OL Coach Dwayne Ledford
After last week’s exciting hiring of new Ravens Head Coach Jesse Minter, the Flock continues to watch as the rest of the staff is assembled.
On Tuesday, it was reported that former Falcons O-Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator Dwayne Ledford would be joining Minter in Charm City:
Baltimore Ravens are expected to hire former Falcons run game coordinator/OL coach Dwayne Ledford for the same job and title, per source.
Ledford was with the Falcons since 2021, and helped lead a run game that finished in the top 10 in rushing the past three seasons.

With former Notre Dame DB Coach Mike Mickens being announced previously, here’s how things stand:
Still so much we don’t know.
A lot of gaps to fill, but exciting times ahead!

For those of you uninterested in the roles outside the Offensive and Defensive Coordinators, Matt Wise is here to help you buy in:
As Minter assembles his staff, it’s worth remembering that position coaches are *significantly* more important than most fans think.
They’re always with their guys. They watch film with a specific eye. They’re huge for player development.
These hirings shouldn’t be overlooked. https://t.co/I06XS3JPft
— Matt Wise (@TheMattWise) January 26, 2026
To that point, let’s see how Breiden Fehoko (who I continue to see more and more from across the Twitterverse) feels about the hiring:
No way. Y’all let the Ravens get one of the best OL coaches in the league who is a wide zone connoisseur. Do yall not understand what Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson are about to do?! Jesus bro. https://t.co/g19iyOAZzM
— Breiden Fehoko (@BreidenFehoko) January 27, 2026
The jury’s still out on how legitimately we should take Fehoko’s opinions, as he certainly had some interesting takes about the Ravens last season. Still, he’s nailed the outlook of the NFL’s offseason so far:

— Breiden Fehoko (@BreidenFehoko) January 27, 2026
More importantly, he’s got NFL experience and – again – will understand the importance of positional coaches. Meanwhile, Baltimore continues to receive support from media members, local fans, and others:
Massive, massive move. For all the folks worried about the OL — this is a clear sign that they’re all taking it seriously. One of the best coaches in the game with a fun run scheme. It’s the best of both worlds.
And this also gives them a lot of leeway for OC. #RavensFlock https://t.co/gvrHLL570o

Falcons final PFF OL ranks under Dwayne Ledford:
2021-27th
2022-5th
2023-4th
2024-11th
2025-14th#RavensFlock we got a good one!— Jordan (@OnlyTheRavens) January 27, 2026
Dwayne Ledford’s offensive linemen all finished with above-average PFF scores, with the lowest finishing with an overall grade of 62.9. They also finished eighth in total rushing yards this season.
That’s despite two projected starters going down with injury. https://t.co/MeVvKhiipp

Protect Lamar Jackson and let the RBs eat. Minter has been off to a great start with his hirings. https://t.co/Lwawa3HiJr
— The Ravens Realm (@RealmRavens) January 27, 2026
Last week, I noted how many viewed Baltimore’s approach to the HC search as one similar to their own draft approach. As Vasilis Lerikos highlights, the Ravens continue to follow that same strategy:
BCA – Best Coaches Available
Love to see it https://t.co/LS45MP3W0R
— Vas (@VasilisLerikos) January 27, 2026
Similarly, I’m all for it, and altogether, the Ravens have addressed two of fans’ biggest concerns heading into the offseason. While Minter will almost certainly help the likes of Malaki Starks and Nate Wiggins, Ledford’s ownership of the O-Line strikes real confidence. Despite that confidence, however, big questions remain.
The first order of business is C Tyler Linderbaum, who’s approaching free agency. With many predicting his departure for the New York Giants, could Ledford’s hiring influence his upcoming decision?
I also thinks this means Tyler Linderbaum is prioritized. Would’ve he surprised if he’s extended by free agency.
You don’t add Ledford and not have him as the center. #Ravens #RavensFlock https://t.co/HbORTmOadf
— Dev Panchwagh (@devpanchwagh) January 27, 2026
Needless to say, the questions beyond Linderbaum are obvious, as Baltimore must address both Guard positions. Could Ledford help one of Emery Jones or Andrew Voorhees’ development?
If not, could Daniel Jeremiah be right in predicting Baltimore will supplement their talent at the position in April’s NFL Draft?

Even with the more reliable names along Ledford’s line, his hire should mean big things over the coming seasons:
Roger Rosengarten stocks never been so high with this hire https://t.co/cMznJYAxho
— JT (@The_RedMonstar3) January 27, 2026
Perhaps more importantly, Ledford’s hiring might influence the Offensive Coordinator decision, as well. While his rushing scheme points toward a West Coast offense, his focus on the run game could also mean Baltimore’s looking at a pass-oriented OC:
The OC hire will be really interesting given the Ledford hire. Ledford runs a zone scheme. You’d think more under center to marry with zone, so that starts to go the WCO route.
Doyle would make sense. Whereas Brady & Kingsbury run Air Raid. Brady’s is more hybrid though. #Ravens
— Dev Panchwagh (@devpanchwagh) January 27, 2026
These would probably move into my top 3 with Jake Peetz somewhere in there.
Young, innovative guys with a pass game focus that will compliment Ledfords run game coordination.
I think that could be a good setup#RavensFlock https://t.co/JftFiSTuv9

Hey Siri, how do we steal Nathan Scheelhaase from the Rams!?
— Cole Jackson (@ColeJacksonFB) January 27, 2026
At the time of writing, here’s the rundown of candidates available:
Okay so, with the Bills HC job landing, some thoughts:
– Webb could still be in play as Bills OC or Raiders HC. But could also be a potential Ravens OC.
– Scheelhaase is likely waiting for Lafleur to take Arizona job and then become LA OC. But could be Ravens OC
– Jake Peetz…— Cole Jackson (@ColeJacksonFB) January 27, 2026
Unless Ari has a source he’s not mentioning, I would imagine Webb and Scheelhaase might still be candidates for OC jobs, including the one in Baltimore. https://t.co/wMVcvACtBD

Given the signs of a West Coach offense, Doyle appears to be the favorite to land the position. He has less of a track record, but again, the resume remains impressive:
Need to improve at DB? Minter brings in the best college DB coach.
Need to improve at OL? Minter (potentially) brings in one of the most well respected OL coaches in the league.
Need to improve on offense? Minter goes to the disciples of one of the most well respected modern… https://t.co/6oYWitLjCe

Bears HC Ben Johnson on potential Ravens’ offensive coordinator candidate Declan Doyle:

If it is Doyle, great. If not, I’ll continue to give the Ravens and Jesse Minter the benefit of the doubt. Where do you stand on the coordinator searches?
