OTL: Ravens Begin Second Round of Head Coach Interviews
Happy Tuesday, Flock! As we continue to await the release of purple smoke from 1 Winning Drive, the list of potential candidates is in constant flux. We thought the first round of interviews were over, but then yesterday another name entered the ring:
Jaguars DC Anthony Campanile is interviewing today for the Baltimore Ravens head coach job.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 19, 2026
Campanile was the Jags’ DC for just one season, in which his team finished #8 in overall defense (#1 rushing, #21 passing). Watching them in the Wild Card game against Buffalo, one thing that stood out was that they HIT. It was refreshing to see, after watching the Baltimore Ravens’ cheesecloth crew.
Later in the morning, another potential candidate emerged, in the form of Sean McDermott, who was freshly fired from Buffalo following Josh Allen‘s turnover fest in Denver. Look at Josh, costing coaches jobs! (Am I doing this right?)
However, it’s another Buffalo coach who has moved on to the second round in Baltimore…

Buffalo offensive coordinator Joe Brady is not one that was on the short list for many Ravens fans. However, even if your knee-jerk reaction to it was – like mine – NO, he deserves a closer look. He’s been Allen’s OC since 2023, and was the QB Coach for the Bills before that. He was the passing game coordinator for that historic LSU offense of 2019 with Joe Burrow at the helm. He’s only 36 years old, and has been a coordinator at the NFL level for five seasons (including 2020-21 in Carolina prior to Buffalo).
In addition to all that, I dug this up while looking into him…

Brady is from Pembroke Pines, Florida, and went to high school in Miramar. Those are about 25 miles from Lamar Jackson‘s home of Pompano Beach.
Maybe it’s nothing. But if the QB is indeed heavily involved (though, as we were told by Steve, with no power), it’s certainly noteworthy. Perhaps they know one another already?
Moving on to the other second interview we know about so far…
The Ravens are bringing in Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver on Tuesday for a second interview for their head coaching job, per source.
A former Baltimore player and assistant coach, Weaver has been a finalist for multiple HC jobs in recent years. pic.twitter.com/qKX0S3ucF5

While many Ravens fans wanted Weaver to be named defensive coordinator here two years ago, the feeling is not nearly the same about his head coach prospects. He’s another CEO, and many of us are ready to move on from that particular archetype of leader.
(This is also where I remind you that the Ravens must hold at least two in-person interviews with minority candidates to satisfy the Rooney Rule. But…Brian Flores? Mike McDaniel? Come onnnnn…)
Meanwhile, the list of candidates shrinks from the other end of the list, as other openings are filled. This morning, Robert Saleh took the Tennessee job.
The Titans are set to hire Robert Saleh as their next head coach, per @jjones9…

Unlike Weaver, I saw many Ravens fans eyeing Saleh favorably. With his name crossed off, the other defensive gurus include Flores, McDermott, Chris Shula, and Jesse Minter.
I know this is a bit stressful for many of you. I’d advise everyone sit back and try to relax and enjoy this a bit. Don’t start throwing things because someone you dislike got a second interview, or because your favorite candidate takes another job. This is our first head coach search in the social media age, meaning we have a ton more information to pore over than we did back in 2008. While it makes for good conversation, it can also get overwhelming.
Do we trust the Ravens brass or not? I’ll choose to. Let’s see what dominoes fall today…
