OTL: Mock Draft Friday Moves Draft Machines
Hello and welcome back, Ravens Flock. We return on Friday with a new mock draft featuring an interesting twist. This Mock Draft Friday doesn’t really have any rules; however, we are moving Draft Machines this week. This means we can get some new players to look at, since players fall differently depending on their ranking on each machine.
Today, we will be using The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Machine. Drum roll please…

I actually had to check myself on this first pick. I do believe this is the first pick in this series this year where the first player isn’t in the trenches. We know they’re a huge need, but the board didn’t fall the way I wanted, so I decided to go BPA. Carnell Tate would make the fourth time that EDC selects a wide receiver in the first round since 2019. While this seems redundant, Tate is not like those other picks at all. Hollywood Brown and Zay Flowers are small and shifty, and Rashod Bateman is taller, but his playstyle is much more in line with the others. Tate is a massive target with some of the best hands for contested catches I have ever evaluated.
Ohio State WR Carnell Tate would have the highest recorded career contested-catch success rate (%) of any NFL WR drafted in the 1st round.

His playing style is much different than the other receivers on the roster right now. He would also be a cool scheme fit because he would be easily the best contested-catch target Lamar Jackson‘s had.
Wide Receiver is not the biggest need, but with the likelihood of losing Isaiah Likely, and Mark Andrew getting older, they need to think about a player like Tate. Declan Doyle has also been around offenses with a ton of versatility in their wideouts. Think about it this way: Tate would play the Rome Odunze role, and Zay would play the D.J. Moore role.
Tate is easily BPA and would be a great fit in this offense.
Mason Thomas is a guy who is really growing on me. While he is smaller and lighter, his pass-rush upside is sky-high:

R Mason Thomas, Edge – Oklahoma
– 6’2 | 250
– 15.5 sacks in last two seasons

While having two guys on the Edge who are smaller does scare me a bit, the pass-rush upside of both Thomas and Mike Green would be insane. A good mind like Jesse Minter would also be able to put them in positions to succeed.
Speaking of getting beef, we need to add some to the Defensive Line. McClellan fits the bill. While his main game is stopping the run, he had a great year production-wise rushing the passer:
Evaluating Mizzou DT Chris McClellan
6’4 323lb beast with relentless swarm mentality. And he’s 22. Balled out in 2025 with 6 sacks, 8 TFLs, 48 tackles.
Disruptor who rushes the passer & shuts down the run, just how DeMeco likes his DTs.

He also fits the type of defensive tackles the Ravens have taken in this range, like Mads and Travis Jones.
Casey is a very good pass-blocking tackle who needs to put on some weight, a la Roger Rosengarten coming out. Raridon is the Likely replacement as a smaller, faster tight end. While Rutledge played more as a guard in college, he played center at the Senior Bowl, which is what the Ravens need now, with Tyler Linderbaum’s status up in the air.
Domani Jackson was once upon a time a five-star recruit who was hyped at Alabama, but now, after a disappointing season, he finds himself here, with all the upside that made him so coveted back then. Davis is a massive guard/tackle who can move people in the run game. Brevard adds more depth on the D-Line, while Randall is solid as a late-round running back. Allen is also good depth at corner.
It was really nice to get a new machine for this one, as it gave more freedom to talk about players we don’t usually see fall.
Overall, I’m satisfied with today’s haul.
