Packers Promoting former Chicago Bears coach amid intensifying rivalry
It’s safe to say that there is no love lost between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers these days.
Not only did the Bears win two of three matchups against the bitter rivals, including eliminating the Packers from the NFC Playoffs, in comeback fashion, but quarterback Caleb Williams’ celebration ruffled Green Bay All-Pro Micah Parsons’ feathers after a regular season comeback victory at Soldier Field, and Ben Johnson’s handshake with Matt LaFleur following the postseason victory was as icy as it gets.
The Packers, though, are turning to a former Bears assistant coach to help elevate quarterback Jordan Love’s development.
Packers hire former Chicago Bears Offensive Coordinator Luke Getsy
According to NFL Media insider Tom Pelissero, the Packers are hiring former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy as Green Bay’s next quarterbacks coach.
Getsy, 41, served as the Bears’ offensive coordinator from 2022 though the 2023 season.
The Bears’ offense never gained much traction under Getsy, finishing 28th in total offense in 2022, only to finish the following season ranked 20th. A return to Lambeau Field is familiar stomping grounds for Getsy.
First joining the Packers as an offensive quality control coach back in 2014, Getsy has spent nine seasons in Green Bay, including spending the 2025 campaign as a senior offensive assistant to head coach Matt LaFleur.
Prior to his Green Bay return, and after the Bears fired Getsy in 2024, he spent one season as the offensive coordinator of the Las Vegas Raiders.
