The Chicago Bears are coming off one of their best seasons in recent memory. Finishing with an NFC North title and the second seed in the conference, the Bears were able to make the NFC Divisional Round before losing in overtime to the Los Angeles Rams. While they looked like they took a massive step this year, they need to make sure this is not just a blip on the radar. NFL Analyst Bucky Brooks recently wrote an article discussing the teams with the biggest Super Bowl windows heading into the 2026 season. While there are a few obvious teams listed, he has the Bears ranked sixth as he highlights the passing offense and even a possible defensive improvement. Below is what Brooks wrote about Chicago:
“The spectacular late-game performances of Caleb Williams under Ben Johnson’s tutelage should inspire Bears fans to harbor Super Bowl dreams. Though far from perfect, the former No. 1 overall pick displayed the magic that made scouts sing his praises ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. Moreover, he teamed with Rome Odunze, DJ Moore, Luther Burden III, Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet to ignite a passing game that routinely produced big plays with pizzazz… Defensively, Chicago must address the potential losses of impending free agents Kevin Byard, Jaquan Brisker, C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Nahshon Wright, but the league’s top takeaway unit could ultimately improve in Year 2 of Dennis Allen’s system.
“Considering the Bears just went from worst to first in the NFC North with a young lineup that flourished under the direction of new leadership, the future looks extremely bright.”
Chicago is going to need to create some cap space, as they currently are projected to have -$5.3 million at this point. Of course, that will change with contract restructuring and moving players. However, the team is projected to be active in free agency, so it will be intriguing to see how they are able to improve this offseason to make the Super Bowl in 2026.
