Chicago Bears sign linebacker Devin Bush to a 3-year contract in NFL free agency
The Chicago Bears have been active in the early hours of 2026 NFL free agency. Already, they have added safety Coby Bryant. This was a necessity as both of Chicago’s starting safeties from last season, Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker, are also hitting free agency.
Last week, Chicago made the decision to release linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, freeing up millions of dollars in salary cap space. And while this was an expected and necessary move, it created a need at linebacker.
On Monday afternoon, they filled that need with one of the top linebackers on the market.
The Chicago Bears have agreed to sign linebacker Devin Bush in NFL free agency
According to multiple NFL reporters and insiders, the Bears have come to an agreement on a three-year contract with free agent linebacker Devin Bush:
Former Browns LB Devin Bush reached agreement today on a 3-year, $30 million deal that includes $21 million guaranteed with the Chicago Bears, per agent Drew Rosenhaus.

As can be seen above, the contract is worth $30 million with $21 million of it guaranteed.
Bush is coming off of a career-year in 2025. He played in all 17 games and recorded a career-high 125 total tackles. His previous career-high before that was 109, which he accomplished as a rookie with the Pittsburgh Steelers all the way back in 2019.
Additionally, Bush had three interceptions and led the NFL with 164 interception return yards. Two of these picks were returned to the end zone for touchdowns, which also led the league.
A former top-ten pick, Bush has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks, and Cleveland Browns. He finished third in NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year voting with Pittsburgh back in 2019.
