Geno Smith Coming Back to Jets After Deal With Raiders
After an offseason spent wondering who the Jets projected week 1 quarterback would be, Gang Green has answered that question by trading for Geno Smith. Originally drafted by the Jets back in 2013 before a tumultuous five-year run that included poor on-field performance, missed meetings and getting his jaw broken by a teammate.
No matter what went on in the past, the Jets needed a signal caller and Smith, despite a poor start to his career, has been very good for three of his past four seasons. In that time, he has passed for 4,000 yards twice (something no Jets QB has done since Joe Namath) while throwing 70 TD’s to 35 interceptions over his final three seasons in Seattle.

Things went awry in Las Vegas with the Raiders last season, but much of that can be attributed to one of the league’s worst offensive lines and receiving groups while offensive coordinator Chip Kelly was so bad that he was reportedly calling plays into the huddle that weren’t installed during the week.
For Smith, it’s a fresh start in a familiar place while the Jets look for some stability at the quarterback position.
