NFL Rumors: Top AFC team being linked to Chicago Bears WR
The rumors of what the Chicago Bears will decide to do with wide receiver DJ Moore continue on. With a few years left on his contract, Moore’s cap hit is $28.5 million, and somehow getting out of that could free up some big cap space for the Bears.
But easier said than done.
Chicago might have a hard time finding someone to take on that contract and would likely have to eat some of that money. So far, we’ve seen Moore being connected to teams like the Las Vegas Raiders and Buffalo Bills. But a new team has potentially entered the mix and they also have a young quarterback.
Will the New England Patriots show interest in DJ Moore?
With the New England Patriots coming off a Super Bowl appearance, they could be poised to make a big move. Getting another weapon for quarterback Drake Maye, who is entering year three, should be the focus. Their offense struggled, mainly on the offensive line in the Super Bowl loss. But outside of Stefon Diggs, Maye doesn’t have a whole lot in terms of wide receivers.
On Wednesday, CBS Sports NFL reporter Jonathan Jones wrote on Moore and dropped a tidbit on the Patriots:
One Bears player plenty around the league are keeping an eye on is wide receiver D.J. Moore. The former first-round pick is coming off his least productive year of his career. The Patriots could be a landing spot for Moore if the Bears do a deal involving the receiver, or he could be part of a hypothetical package that goes to a needy Las Vegas team in a deal for Crosby.
Moore is entering his ninth season in the league with a contract that runs until 2029, with his guaranteed money essentially running through the 2027 season.
Moore didn’t have a huge year in 2025 for the Bears but he did come up with some big plays. The Bears now have to balance the factors of losing a wide receiver who has been productive in the past versus keeping him and having the same offensive weapons as last year.
Both Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson discussed Moore at the NFL combine and it’s clear a decision should be coming soon.
