It was an incredibly poor 2025 National Football League season for the New York Jets, as Gang Green finished with a 3-14 record in the AFC East. The main objective for the front office this year is a significant improvement in both the roster and overall performance, with the goal of making the playoffs and ending that long drought. The roster has so many needs, but running back with Breece Hall is a strength.

There were quite a few questions surrounding the franchise in the early months of 2026, and one of the biggest at MetLife Stadium was what to do about the running back situation. That question was partially answered by retaining Breece Hall, as he was tagged for the upcoming season. However, there has since been plenty of media speculation about whether a longer-term extension should follow, and if so, whether it should be for three or four additional seasons. Such a deal would carry the 24-year-old Omaha native and 2022 draft pick through the prime years of his career.
