After an impressive rookie season, Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland is training hard for the 2026 NFL season. The league recently shared footage showcasing the 21-year-old’s rigorous drills.

In a clip posted on the NFL X account, Loveland caught passes without gloves to improve his grip. The Idaho native also displayed his quick footwork by changing directions on his routes. He combined the agility of a wide receiver with the strong blocking of a tight end.

This dedicated training follows a season in which Loveland led the Bears in receiving yards. He struggled early in the 2025 campaign, totaling only 116 yards in his first six games. However, he broke out in Week 9 with 118 yards and two touchdowns against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Loveland finished the year with 58 receptions for 713 yards and six touchdowns. His standout performance cemented his role as a key contributor for head coach Ben Johnson’s squad.

Chicago Bears’ Ben Johnson confirms offseason training for Colston Loveland

Johnson recently confirmed that Loveland and wide receiver Luther Burden III have been spending a lot of time in the weight room throughout the NFL offseason.

Johnson’s statement regarding the duo’s constant presence at the facility caused a stir among the Chicago fanbase. Although fans praised the two young players, some criticized the absence of a key teammate.

“The rookie class that saved the Bears 🙌,” commented one fan rallying behind the pair.

Other supporters kept their reactions brief, posting comments like “Good” and “Dedication.”

However, other supporters questioned the whereabouts of the team’s other star playmaker.

“And where is the supposed WR1, Rome Odunze?” one user asked.

Another fan took a sharper tone toward the wide receiver, posting, “Rome still asleep? Hit the jugs, buddy.”

One supporter even suggested that Burden may soon overtake Odunze as the team’s leading wideout: “Lulu bout to snatch that WR1 chain.”

Odunze suffered a stress fracture in his foot in October and missed five games last season. However, he still finished with 661 receiving yards, 44 receptions and six touchdowns in 12 appearances. He returned on January 10 for the Bears’ playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.

With Odunze, Loveland and Burden at his disposal, Johnson can build a balanced, dynamic and dangerous offense for the 2026 season. These three young players have already helped the Bears finish 11–6 and win the NFC North last season.
