Knee-Jerk Reactions: Ravens Draft Indiana WR Elijah Sarratt in 4th Round

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

In the fourth round, the Ravens selected Indiana WR Elijah Sarratt with the 115th overall pick. RSR staff react here.

Darin McCann

Sarratt will remind some of the more seasoned Ravens fans of Anquan Boldin, with his contested catch ability and innate skill to play along the sidelines. The Ravens have taken two big receivers in the first four rounds, and the Minter vision is starting to take on some clarity. The Ravens are getting big again.

Panic meter is starting to grow at center. Sam Hecht was my second-favorite center in this draft, but he is still floating out there. I’m guessing there’s a plan — today, or in the weeks/months to come.

Jared Pinder

This pick is a bit weird after choosing Lane last night. Weirdly enough I actually like Sarratt better than Lane but I guess Sarratt was too good to pass up. He does a lot of the things that Lane does as he is a big-bodied receiver who can catch 50/50 balls.

They do have a great WR room right now and if they can still get another center later on today this is going to be an awesome pick. If they can’t get a young option at center this pick and last night’s third-round selection will loom large.

John Hughey

It’s a bit of a head-scratcher, given that the Ravens used a third-round pick on a receiver last night, but Lamar Jackson gets yet another big-bodied receiver in Elijah Sarratt. Sarratt put up serious numbers, despite missing three games due to a hamstring injury. His 15 receiving TDs led all of FBS, and his comfort level working the middle of the field could be a great offset to the play style of Ja’Kobi Lane. I would’ve liked to see the front office address the center position with both Connor Lew and Sam Hecht still there, but the seven picks remaining today should produce at least one center. Talent-wise, it’s a great addition to a Ravens receiver room that needed some juice.

Chad Racine

I think the value was just too good to pass up for Elijah Sarratt aka “Waffle House.” Much like Lane, he’s another touchdown machine. Taking back-to-back receivers with Sam Hecht still available should tell you how much they loved him. I was hoping for Hecht but I trust the value here.

Chris Schisler

I love this pick. What excites me the most is what it means for the new look Ravens offense. This isn’t the same small guy track track star route. The Ravens drafted back-to-back big-bodied receivers. The more big-bodied targets you have the more Zay Flowers is an X factor.

Elijah Sarratt was a back shoulder catch machine at Indiana. He is a red zone threat because of his size, and his ability to catch in traffic. I think he’s a lot like Rashod Bateman. He should be a solid receiver and with appropriate fourth round expectations, this is a great start to a long Saturday for Baltimore.

Andrew Kordula

Look, the Ravens brass has preached “best player available” for the entirety of their time in Baltimore. I have to trust that they’re doing that here too. Lane, and now Sarratt, should complement our receiving corps well.

I personally wanted Hecht to fill a glaring hole at center, but if they saw more value in Sarratt at this spot, I have to blindly trust their judgement.

With our track record of drafting wideouts though, color me a bit skeptical…
