Having been born and raised in Columbia, Missouri, Sophie Cunningham is a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan. The WNBA star, who spent last season with the Indiana Fever, has been cheering for the Chiefs for years. She stood behind them when they won three Super Bowls in five years between 2020 and 2024. Cunningham remained faithful even as Kansas City missed the playoffs this past season.
The script flipped on Wednesday, though. This time around, it was the wife of Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes who rallied behind Cunningham. Brittany Mahomes could not help but react to Cunningham’s big move away from the WNBA.

Cunningham was at the center of a major development on Wednesday. This was after she was announced as a part of the latest batch of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models.
Sports Illustrated posted a photo of the former Missouri Tigers star in a white bikini on a Florida beach. The post immediately turned heads online and captured the attention of Brittany Mahomes.

Mahomes is no stranger to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. The 30-year-old has graced the magazine’s cover multiple times. Just recently, she joined other prominent NFL WAGs (wives and girlfriends) for the February issue of the digital magazine.
Mahomes is now welcoming Cunningham as a fellow SI swimsuit model as the WNBA star makes her debut for the coveted role.
As for her basketball, Cunningham’s future with the Fever is currently in the balance. She is an unrestricted free agent and will need to negotiate a new deal with the team to remain in Indiana for 2026 and beyond. At this point, it’s also very much possible that she opts to sign with another team for the upcoming season.
