Your Favorite NFL Draft Prospect Stinks
I’m exhausted with the hype trains. Time to tear down your hopes and dreams with a hefty (and ever so slightly farcical) reality.
Your favorite Round 1 Ravens target sucks.
Kenyon Sadiq
Oh, so you want to draft a Tight End in the top-15 of the draft? Banking on him being Vernon Davis more than O.J. Howard?
But trust me bro, because he’s a physical specimen and ran really fast at the Underwear Olympics! Never mind the fact that he has just one year of college production. Focus on 40-time as if your Tight End is running go-routes all day! Ignore the fact that only one TE drafted in the first round in the last 10 years has gotten a second contract with the same team.
By all means, let’s take a huge swing to replace the current Ravens TE1 – that you hate for his crucial drops – with a rookie who *checks notes* has a record of easy drops at Oregon.
Reuben Bain Jr.
The minute they started leaking reports that Bain was involved in a car crash that came with charges, you really thought he’d fall to 14.
Then you realized Cincy, Dallas, KC and Miami are picking ahead of Baltimore and his off field issue probably had those teams salivating even more for Bain.
Regardless… I’ll keep it short. Like his arms. Good luck bucking historical trends and data about arm length versus NFL success as a pass rusher.
Jordan Tyson
I’m concerned that Tyson is heading to Pittsburgh to attend the NFL Draft. Buddy probably trips and rolls an ankle on his way to the podium. Tears a rotator cuff hugging Goodell. Concussed putting the team hat on.
You get the point.
Spencer Fano
He’s basically the Tyus Bowser of Offensive Linemen. Total tweener. Arms too short to be an Offensive Tackle. Too inexperienced to start at Center. Too late to lock into a Guard spot, as Emery Jones seems safe and the team inexplicably signed John Simpson out of the Free Agency gates.
So yeah, let’s draft a “future Guard, possibly Tackle, could be a Center but the Ravens drafting 2 Centers in Round One over a five-year span is silly business.”
Sound use of a rare top-15 pick.
Vega Ioane
At least Fano has Offensive Tackle upside potential. Ioane is strictly Interior Offensive Line. YAWN.
Again, you have your Guards. Bench one for Ioane, fine, I get it, but how underwhelming. You can also try to turn him into a Center and pray Lamar Jackson isn’t chasing Air Mail for 17 weeks, but that’s your funeral as a fan.
I know Ravens fans love ‘nasty’ players like Ioane, and spit and grit, and lunch pail, and name a blue collar adjective… but save it for Day 2 of the Draft, not your top-15 pick.
Jermod McCoy
David Ojabo called. He said it’s great idea drafting a player who is coming back from a major injury without having any recent tape.
Marlon Humphrey on hold. He thinks drafting another ‘track star’ corner is good business (for you kids in the fanbase, Marlon was also a track star).
Nate Wiggins is chiming in now. He said a prospect with the exact same comp as him (Tyson Campbell), same undersized body composition that leads to struggles tackling in the NFL, and same handsy problems is a can’t-miss guy.
Makai Lemon
Wouldn’t shock me if the Ravens opted to draft another sub-six-foot wideout after Zay Flowers and Hollywood Brown before him. Because that’s what Lamar needs: more little shifty dudes that need some time to get separation in their route while the Offensive Line has him running for his life.
Ok, smart guy, who do YOU like?
I hear it now. And I point you back to the top of the article, when I said this was farcical.
(But seriously, these dudes all have warts. Gonna be interesting.)
