Chicago Bears have very high hopes for Colston Loveland in Year 2
Tight end emerged as one of the strongest positions of the Chicago Bears last season. Colston Loveland lived up to expectations after the team drafted him at No. 10. He started 11 of the 16 games he played in and became a big part of the offense.
Loveland enjoyed a successful collegiate career with the Michigan Wolverines. He won the national championship with the program in 2023 and earned a second-team All-American nod in 2024.
The 22-year-old translated his college success to the NFL. Loveland shone in his rookie campaign, recording 70 receptions for 906 yards and six touchdowns. He will be key to Chicago’s 2026 season and is expected to exceed his production from last year.

Loveland is set for a stronger year with a season of NFL experience under his belt. Chicago Bears tight ends coach Jim Dray shared what he expects from him in 2026.
“I’m sure that from the outside looking in that you could see it trending in that direction,” Dray told reporters on Thursday. “But he definitely came on pretty strong late in the season after a slower start, but in terms of a guy working at his craft and knowing that he hasn’t achieved anything yet, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s even better next year (2026). That’s certainly his hope and our hope.”
Caleb Williams often utilizes his tight ends during drives. The quarterback has shown he has developed chemistry with Loveland, resulting in several key completions.
The coaching staff will assess where the team stands and how ready it is to compete during the OTAs and minicamp. What’s certain is that the team will rely on Loveland more than last year. His production could be the difference between winning and losing, and Williams and Loveland must strengthen their connection more than ever.
