Chicago Bulls urged to boost front court defense at pick No. 15 in NBA Draft
The Chicago Bulls were a big winner in Sunday’s 2026 NBA Draft Lottery. They went from No. 9 into the top four and will pick No. 4 overall come June’s draft, giving them a shot at a potential star player.
With A.J. Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cam Boozer and Caleb Wilson being the consensus top four in this draft, Chicago is going to land one of them and potentially a franchise cornerstone. The Bulls also have the No. 15 pick in the draft thanks to a trade with the Portland Trailblazers.
The two first-round picks could go a long way in terms of this rebuild. Early mocks have the Bulls taking the former UNC star in Wilson at No. 4 but one analyst believes they should continue to target the front court, specifically on defense with the No. 15 pick.
Chicago Bulls to take Kentucky forward Jayden Quaintance in mock draft
In his first mock draft following the lottery, Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman has the Bulls taking Wilson but also Kentucky’s Jayden Quaintance later on. He wants them to focus on the front court and specifically on defense with the pick:
“The Chicago Bulls could really strengthen their defensive identity by building around Caleb Wilson and Jayden Quaintance,” Wasserman wrote. “At full strength, Quaintance looks like an outstanding defensive prospect due to his frame, length and shot-blocking rate. He was always behind offensively, but he’s delivered enough flashes of low-post touch, driving ability and shotmaking for scouts to picture some long-term scoring potential to unlock.”
If Chicago came away with Wilson and Quaintance for the front court, it would be a good start to a rebuild. It could also allow Matas Buzelis to move to the three spot which appears to be more of a natural fit for him.
With Kentucky, he played just four games. But the season before that at Arizona State, he averaged 9.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game.
