Fever coach Stephanie White facing accusation over Caitlin Clark decision
The Indiana Fever forced overtime against the Washington Mystics on Friday. They executed head coach Stephanie White’s designed play late in the fourth quarter to perfection. Caitlin Clark received the ball off a screen and knocked down a triple to tie the game at 89-89. However, the Mystics secured a win in the extra period, 104-102.
Clark scored a game-high 32 points, built on seven three-pointers, four rebounds, eight assists and two steals. However, she struggled from the field, converting just 10 of her 28 shots. Inefficiency has been an issue for the superstar guard this season as she averages just 41.3% three games.
The Fever are 1-2 and need to turn their fortunes around before digging themselves a deeper hole. They were preseason favorites, with a healthy roster and a favorable early schedule. Clark is back to 100% and is expected to lead the team to at least a deep playoff run.

Indiana Fever fans criticize Stephanie White for not praising Caitlin Clark
During her postgame presser, White was asked to share her thoughts on Clark’s huge fourth quarter. The veteran head coach instead discussed what Indiana needs to do to win games.
“I thought our whole group showed resilience in that rally,” White said. “We showed the ability to make tough shots, we had some really good times to score and execution moments offensively and defensively. We just have to have more of it consistently.
What’s most disappointing is I’m not shocked she avoided giving C her flowers.
Last season, I assumed it was to not put CC on a pedestal because, with her injuries, you’d get a good-to-great performance then a meh performance. Obviously not the case here. pic.twitter.com/vFs4EEZaT7

Some fans in the comments section accused White of having an agenda against the two-time All-Star. Supporters were not happy about White’s decision to not praise Clark despite being asked about her performance directly.
“This interview tells it all. SW absolutely hates CC’s game. C makes 2 quick 3s in the 1st and immediately goes to the bench and the team gets blown off the court for 2 quarters. C came back in hesitant until 4th. Team too dang short to play D against bigger teams. Need help now,” one fan wrote.
“She is a gatekeeper for the old guard. Her mission is to throttle and sabotage CC,” a comment read.
“She resents her and it’s obvious,’ a user said.
“Spread the word! Fire her immediately!” posted another.
“Absolutely nightmare,” one reaction read.
“The reason White won’t praise Clark publicly is simple: when CC drops 32 and forces OT on a clutch 3, that’s not the system working — that’s the system failing and the star saving everyone. A coach whose entire identity is built on structure can’t celebrate the moment that proves structure wasn’t enough. So she deflects. ‘Other players contributed too.’ Sure coach. The box score says otherwise,” another fan commented.
Emotions are high, and Fever fans are unhappy with how the team has started the season. Nevertheless, Indiana has a chance to turn things around starting on Sunday when it takes on the Seattle Storm at home.
