Playing a home game is always better than hitting the road. Throughout sports, teams have traditionally performed better at home than away. Whether it is familiarity with the venue, travel demands on the opponent, or the energy provided by the home crowd, the numbers consistently show that home-field advantage can make a difference. For the New York Jets, the story is the same.

New York Jets History

Winning hasn’t come easily lately, but like most NFL teams, the New York Jets have historically performed better at home than on the road. If we look at the historical perspective, the Jets hold an all-time home record of 243-260-5. While the total numbers are below .500, they have performed noticeably better at home than they have on the road, where they have historically struggled even more.

That home-field advantage continued when they moved into MetLife Stadium in 2010. Since making the stadium their home, the Jets have put up a 59-73 regular-season record at MetLife. Even during the tough years, having the fans there has helped create an environment that gives the team its best opportunity to succeed.

You can see this trend clearly when you look back at the last few years. In the 2025 season, the team struggled heavily and finished 3-14 overall, but they managed to win 2 games at home compared to just 1 win on the road. Those 2 home victories were against the Browns and Falcons, while the lone road win was against the Bengals.

Going back to 2024, the Jets had 3 home wins and 2 road wins on their way to a 5-12 record. In 2023, they captured 4 home wins and 3 road wins to finish the year at 7-10.

While the overall results have not been where Jets fans want them to be, the home-field advantage has remained evident. Even during difficult seasons, the Jets have generally found more success at MetLife Stadium than they have on the road. The next step for this team is turning those home victories into consistent success away from home as well.

2026 Season

We certainly hope that things will get better. As Jets fans, we definitely want to see this team start winning more on the road as well. Now that the draft and free agency are over, we have the pieces to build a stronger roster. It will give us a much better advantage against the elite teams in the league.

We all want a better total record in 2026. JetNation, I understand it has been a tough few years, but we are all in this together. Let’s hope for a better season in 2026!
