OTL: A Look at the Three Most Crucial Games on the ’26 Schedule
Just over a month ago, the Baltimore Ravens found out their full schedule for the 2026 season.
A set of 17 games stands between the team and its goal of washing away the bitter taste of an 8-9 finish to last year. And as we inch closer to training camp, the focus is beginning to shift toward real football instead of offseason speculation.
Baltimore owns the ninth-easiest upcoming schedule in the league, according to 2025 win percentages, their 2026 opponents having posted a combined .479 win percentage a season ago.
The Ravens’ schedule is also ranked the sixth-easiest in the NFL by projected win totals, which takes offseason movement and roster changes into account.
Though the schedule appears light on the surface, the team still has some marquee matchups and tough tests on its radar as they aim to return to playoff contention. With that in mind, a select few games will likely carry significantly more weight than the rest.
Here are Baltimore’s three most crucial games on their 2026 schedule.
Week 8
at Bills (November 1, 1:00pm)
The Ravens will need to wait until Week 8 to face their first opponent that posted a winning season 2025.
The first seven of Baltimore’s 2026 opponents had a combined .361 winning percentage, meaning it will be none other than Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills will likely mark the team’s first true test of the new year.
Now, that does not mean a trap game in that seven-week time frame is impossible. We surely know better. But, under a brand new coaching staff and with a (hopefully) healthier squad on the field, Buffalo will be Baltimore’s first juggernaut foe of 2026.
The two teams met in the opening week of last season, a game in which the Ravens scored 40 points and still lost in a 41-40 Monday night thriller.
Allen and his club have now gotten the better of Baltimore in four of their last five meetings, including ending their season twice in the AFC Divisional Round since 2020.
Their most recent postseason matchup came in the 2024 season—the infamous Mark Andrews two-point conversion drop game. Baltimore’s two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson finished the night with 254 passing yards, two touchdowns and a 114.4 passer rating. With a 1-4 record against Allen since 2020, Jackson averages a 68.7 completion percentage, 185.0 passing yards per game and a 98.6 passer rating.
The storied history should give rookie head coach Jesse Minter and the Ravens a little extra motivation as they face their first 2025 playoff team midway through the season.
Week 9
vs Jaguars (November 5, 8:15pm)
It will be a quick turnaround before Baltimore is tasked with its next high-powered AFC opponent. Four days worth, in fact.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will mark the second of five consecutive 2025 playoff teams between Weeks 8 and 12. They are also the second of three 2025 AFC playoff squads in a 15-day period, with a home Monday night date with Minter’s former Los Angeles Chargers the following week.
Jacksonville finished last season with an AFC-South-best 13-4 record, though they were bounced by Allen and the Bills in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
The Jaguars ranked sixth in points scored per game in 2025 (27.9), headlined by 29 touchdowns from former first overall pick Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonville’s defense also ranked among the best in the league last season, placing eighth in points allowed per game (19.8) and first in rushing yards allowed per game (85.6).
Baltimore will face the young Jags on Thursday Night Football at M&T Bank Stadium in Week 9, marking just their second home game against the squad since 2015. Their last matchup was a 23-7 victory in Jacksonville back in 2023.
Playing two straight conference threats is already enough pressure. Doing so in the span of five days makes this matchup that much more significant.
Week 15
at Steelers (December 20, 1:00pm)
What would this list be without a game against the rival Pittsburgh Steelers?
Although, Baltimore’s 2-8 record in their last 10 regular season contests against Pittsburgh does not really reflect a Ravens-Steelers rivalry, does it?
The team’s first meeting with Pittsburgh will give them an opportunity to change the narrative.
The Ravens dropped both of their games against the Steelers last season, most recently the dramatic finish that saw rookie kicker Tyler Loop miss a game-winning 44-yard field goal that ended Baltimore’s shallow playoff hopes.
The Ravens allowed 289 passing yards per game and a 95.6 passer rating to Pittsburgh’s future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers in their two meetings last year. That was slightly better than his season rating of 94.8.
With a 5-1 career record against the Ravens, will Rodgers once again sweep Baltimore in his age 43 season? Will he even be playing by then?
The team opens its season series against the Steelers at Acrisure Stadium, a place in which they have not been victorious since 2022. After their stretch of five playoff teams, the Ravens will take on Pittsburgh two weeks after their bye.
The December 20 matchup will also begin a stint of four straight divisional games, making it extremely important that Baltimore starts the closing stages of its season on the right note.
Plus, the prospect of revenge should add a little extra fire to this Ravens squad as they take on a slightly retooled Steelers.
Which game do you think will be the most pivotal for Baltimore in 2026?
