Bears star draws ‘perfect’ praise from NFL legend Tom Brady

Brady saw firsthand how Thuney worked behind the scenes to perform well during games. The legendary quarterback called him the “perfect” guard and recalled a story about his former teammate.
“He was just the perfect guard,” Brady said on the “New Heights” podcast. “Size, strength. Probably he didn’t have the longest arms, but it didn’t matter. We moved him into a tackle one game and he was like, ‘I’ve never played tackle.’ And (former Patriots offensive line coach) Dante (Scarnecchia) said, ‘Listen, just f****** kick, get to the junction point, punch.
“It was like, ‘OK, that’s all I got to do.’ He was a captain, and he always did the right thing. He showed up. He sweated his a** off.”

Thuney has a chance to add another Super Bowl ring to his collection. However, it won’t be easy as the Bears face the toughest schedule next season.
The good news is that Caleb Williams is coming off an impressive campaign, and the team addressed positional needs this offseason. With Thuney as one of the leaders, along with the emergence of the star quarterback, Chicago is poised to make more noise in 2026.
