Chicago Blackhawks star Connor Bedard will miss the next few months due to his shoulder injury, putting a bit of a dent in the team’s first few weeks of games for the 2026-27 season. But all hope is not lost as this should be more of a competitive Blackhawks team.
There’s still a chance they make some moves whether it’s free agency or even a trade. It’s clear that they need to add some more pieces especially if they want to improve their chances of getting to the playoffs.
And one of the biggest names connected to them is Patrick Kane.
The Blackhawks legend is a free agent and the latest report is he’s deciding between two teams. With Chicago and the Buffalo Sabres reportedly in the mix, it will be a homecoming for Kane one way or another. Now, Bedard is speaking on the chance to play with Kane and he would be excited for it to happen.

For the first time since suffering his injury, Bedard spoke to the media on Monday afternoon. While he discussed the injury and his contract extension, he was also asked about the potential chance to play with Kane. He seemed up for the potential.
“I hope so! I don’t know what I could say to persuade his decision, but we’d all be so excited to have a player like that,” Bedard said. “That would be incredible to get to play with him and learn from him. Hopefully he decides to come back. It would make us a way better team.”

Not only would the addition of Kane help Bedard on the ice but it could help the Blackhawks early. While Kane isn’t in his prime, he can be a serviceable top line center while Bedard is out with his injury.
A reunion would make a lot of sense for both sides.
