Fever coach Stephanie White explains Caitlin Clark’s concerning situation
Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever were back on the practice court on Wednesday as they continue to prepare for their upcoming matchup against the defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces, on Sunday.
White spoke to the press during practice, and one of the biggest questions she faced centered on Caitlin Clark’s health. The two-time WNBA All-Star sat out Indiana’s 111-87 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday due to a back injury. This was the second game Clark missed this season due to the back issue.
At this point, the Fever have not confirmed if the former WNBA Rookie of the Year will be available for Sunday’s matchup. Coach White provided a crucial update on Clark’s status.

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White shares Caitlin Clark injury update
Clark did not practice with the team on Tuesday. It was the same case on Wednesday for the 24-year-old guard.
White explained that Clark was limited to individual work as the Fever coach addressed her superstar’s current situation.
“She’s with our player development coaches, with our medical staff, with our sports performance staff,” White said. “Just working on some basketball skill stuff, movement pattern stuff as she continues to work her way back to full team activity.”
The fact that Clark has missed two straight practices could be a cause for concern. She now has just three days left before the Fever return to the court in their marquee matchup against the Aces. White conceded that it’s currently too early to tell if the former Iowa Hawkeyes star will be ready to go for Sunday.
The silver lining, however, is that there appears to be some progress in Clark’s road to recovery.
“Every day is a little bit better,” White stated. “And again, I reiterate, for those who haven’t had back issues, every day can be something different. … The back is a nagging thing that manifests itself in different ways.”

White also confirmed that Clark’s current back injury is not a “new thing” and was a re-aggravation of her previous back issue.
Clark has played 17 games for the Fever this season. She is averaging a career-high 21.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 2.6 triples in 30.8 minutes per contest.
