Mics catch Caitlin Clark’s exchange with former Fever teammate
Caitlin Clark was teammates with veteran Erica Wheeler for one season during her rookie year with the Indiana Fever. Wheeler served as one of Clark’s veterans as the latter transitioned into the pros.
The pair crossed paths again on Wednesday night as Clark and the Fever visited Wheeler and the Los Angeles Sparks for a road game at Crypto.com Arena.
Wheeler was mic’d up, allowing the fans to hear the exchange between the pair just before tipoff. The veteran approached Clark and gave her a warm hug before they exchanged pleasantries.
“What’s up, baby?” Wheeler told Clark. “Good to see you always.”
Clark had a big smile on her face as she embraced Wheeler. It was clear that she, too, was happy to see her vet.
Later in the game, Wheeler checked in on her former teammate.
“Your leg alright?” she asked, with Clark responding, “Yeah.”
Erica Wheeler to Caitlin: “Wassup baby, good to see you always, your leg alright??”
Always her vet

Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever fall to Los Angeles Sparks
This was Clark’s first game back after a two-game injury absence. Her back seemed fine, but she did not play well at all. She struggled all night, shooting just 4-of-12 from the floor and 1-of-6 from deep for nine points. She added four rebounds, three assists and a steal in just 16 minutes of play.
It was far from enough as the Fever suffered defeat against the Sparks, 106-92.

Wheeler, on the other hand, played her part in the win. She was among five Sparks starters who scored double digits. Wheeler finished with 12 points, four rebounds, six assists and a steal.
Wheeler played two stints with the Fever in her 11-year career. She suited up for Indiana from 2016 to 2019 and was named an All-Star in her final year. She rejoined the team in 2023 before parting ways again the following season.
