‘We had a slight thing’: Caleb Williams addresses development at Bears training camp
The Chicago Bears training camp is underway as the defending NFC North champions prepare for the upcoming 2026 NFL season.
The nine-time NFL champions had a low-key start to training camp on Wednesday at Halas Hall, the Bears’ headquarters. Chicago will be practicing without football pads for the first week of camp.
Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen made it clear that the Bears will not have any team-altering decisions from this first week. In fact, the first day lasted only about 70 minutes, with no surprises.
Even Caleb Williams and the offense just took it easy.

Caleb Williams addresses miscommunication at the Chicago Bears’ training camp
Coach Ben Johnson mentioned that his squad is further ahead than the team was at the same time last year. The Bears had consistent pre-snap penalties and pre-snap organizational issues at their training camp last year.
“Last year we talked about that pre-snap operation quite a bit,” Johnson said. “I feel a lot better about that this time of year than we did last year, so now we’re just moving on to the next stage.”
As for Williams, he revealed that he had a little bit of a pre-snap mishap with the new Chicago center. Garrett Bradbury is one of the newest members of the Bears’ offensive line.
“It’s been great,” Williams said about the training camp. “We had a slight thing happen today,” he added. “It’s the point of camp; it’s the point of practice.”
The star quarterback expects to iron out their mistakes so they can be primed and ready when the season starts. Williams is primed for an MVP-type season after he helped the Bears finish with an 11-6 record in 2025.
