The Jets wrapped up their preseason schedule with a 23-6 loss to the Giants in a game that didn’t feature much offense for Gang Green after scoring a touchdown on their opening drive.  Here’s some of the good, the bad and the ugly in case you missed it.

– Rookie running back Chip Trayanum left the field on a stretcher at the half after taking a hit to the top of his head as he attempted a run up the middle.  Prior to the injury, Trayanum was the focal point of the offense, getting nine carries for 30 yards and a TD on the Jets first possession.

– It’s safe to assume the Jets week 1 kicker is not on the roster.  Jason Sanders “won” the kicking battle and today missed an extra point and came up way short on a 54-yard attempt later in the game.

– Linebacker Marcelino-McCrary Ball had the kind of game that would earn you defensive player of the week had this been a regular season game.  McCrary-Ball had an interception, a forced fumble and nine tackles.

– New addition Joseph Ossai, who made his debut after sitting out much of camp with an injury, left this contest with a foot injury after impressing early on.

– Cade Klubnik got the start and had an up and down night.  Some early drops hindered his production but he also had some poor passes and an interception, his first of camp, before making way for Bailey Zappe.

– Edge rusher Nate Lynn who generated plenty of buzz after picking up two sacks in his debut last week, added another one in this contest as he continues to push for a roster spot.

– Tip of the cap to defensive tackle Jack Heflin who tied for the team lead with 9 tackles up front.  Heck of a performance from that spot no matter the situation.

So the next time the Jets step on the field it’ll mean something.  Their week 1 meeting at Tennessee pits them against their former head coach, Robert Saleh, on September 13th at 1pm.
