Government and false teaching
We know that there are many misconceptions and errors promoted by government, at all levels, and through various means. Public schools (government-run tax-funded institutions) are of course a major avenue of attack on the truth. To that, we can add many more ways we are taught lies by government, supporters of government, beneficiaries of government, and in general, slimeballs.
The media is of course a major tool for false teaching. And social media is one of the most effective in 2026. This was recently posted on one website:
This, strangely enough (and most ironically) was posted to challenge several wrong ideas, as regarding jurisdiction of the FedGov, and many related issues. But it is based on a false premise, and therefore teaches something just as wrong. And thus as dangerous to liberty.
That false teaching is something that is believed by millions of Americans. And indeed by billions of people around the world.
The lie is fundamental: The idea that human rights are established, created, by human governments. That of course leads to the dangerous concept that what governments established, governments can take away.
The American Founding Fathers saw the error, and saw the dangers: that is why they adopted Tom Jefferson’s words. “Unalienable rights.” And accepted his belief that they are given to us by our Creator.
Our rights are not established by the US Constitution. We have fundamental rights as humans because the Lord created us and gave us those rights.
Governments, being in rebellion to God, can and do steal away those rights. But they do so wrongly. In violation of natural law. In violation of moral law. In violation of, and in rebellion to, universal order.
The Constitution is supposed to protect those rights: which all humans possess. The Constitution only applies to Americans – that is, to the citizens of the Fifty States. Much as we dislike the way the phrase “We, the People,” is twisted and abused (as is the statement “common welfare”), it’s authority is limited. As both confederations and republics are defined to be.
But these human rights (both personal and economic) belong to ALL humans. Not just to those who happen to be born in these States. Or able to be naturalized and become Citizens of the fifty States.
History shows that those who deny God-given rights to other people sooner or later pay for that denial. Generally by also losing their rights, and often their lives and their property as well. There is much evidence around us of that process today.
A related problem is that we often confuse “rights” and “powers.” Most commonly we show that confusion when we speak of “States’ rights” or “Jury rights” when we are really talking about the power of States (and their people and government intuitions) and of juries to rule on not just the facts but the laws. Many things in the US Constitution that people in 2025 consider “rights” are actually “powers.” A significant example of that is the popular vote. The vote is a power, not a right.
At least that is the view from the perspective of a liberty-loving engineer. Not an attorney! To us, there is a big difference between the power an American citizen holds courtesy of the Constitution and the God-given rights (like free speech, freedom of assembly, right to confront our accuser) that are stated and supposed to be protected not granted, by that documents.
For that reason, we here at TPOL point out: the protections of the Constitution can be extended to include the rights of non-citizens: although it can be argued that legally that extends only to those under the jurisdiction of one of the States, and therefore under the jurisdiction of the FedGov. (A separate issue to discuss.) But if we love the Lord, are we not also supposed to love one another, and therefore is that not a reason (even a compelling reason) to protect those same rights for people who are not citizens?
And as lovers of liberty, are we supposed to distinguish between people based on origin and status, when it comes to rights?
