Instead of bombing all remaining refineries in early November, the U.S. has relied on a naval blockade of Iranian ports and announced a new task force to disrupt Iran’s land-based supply routes and revenue streams. Rather than launching a massive new bombardment, the White House and Iranian officials have been reviewing ceasefire and nuclear proposals mediated by Qatar, causing global oil prices to drop sharply on hopes of a diplomatic resolution.
