Laid-off employees file class-action lawsuit against 80 Acres Urban Farming in Cincinnati
The lawsuit is seeking 60 days of back pay, with interest and benefits for the lack of advanced notice.

Four former employees of 80 Acres Urban Farming have started a class-action lawsuit against the company in federal court.
The former employees said 80 Acres didn’t give them enough warning before shutting down the company earlier this month.
The lawsuit alleges that the federal WARN Act requires 60 days notice ahead of mass layoffs, saying 80 Acres’ roughly 500 workers were fired within 30 days of the plants’ closing.
The company said it expected to shut down operations by the start of this week.
According to documents provided to the Ohio Office of Workforce Development, 80 Acres Farms was negotiating an acquisition that was expected to provide the necessary funding for the company to avoid or postpone the closure.
The negotiations came to end on Aug. 2, however, with the prospective buyer withdrawing from negotiations, according to Mike Zelkind, CEO and co-founder of 80 Acres Farms.
