So far there are only six episodes of What To Burn, What To Carry, the newly launched podcast from adventurer, dogsledder, and prestige podcast veteran Blair Braverman.
The first two lean into her expertise, with a disastrous 1920s Arctic expedition whose plot occasionally pivots on the selection and management of sled dogs. But Braverman’s qualities as a storyteller come through better in later episodes, especially one about how a lost woman hallucinating after a 1976 plane crash made it out of the Sierra Nevada alive.
The podcast nicely combines the kind of technical detail and depth that a history dad might appreciate with the suspenseful emotional intensity that a true-crime girly longs for.
