The New York Post reports:
Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s math projecting a $5.4 billion budget deficit is coming under increased scrutiny — as his fiscal team no-showed the start of spending negotiations with the City Council for the first time in decades Wednesday.
Mamdani’s $127 billion budget is an unrestrained looting spree. He was elected not to govern responsibly but to seize wealth from the Americans who have not yet escaped New York and redistribute it to his fellow Third World colonists.
As there is only so much money he can get his hands on directly, Mamdani wants to take the looting spree statewide. He is holding the city hostage to force Albany to raise taxes even higher. If the state does not comply, he threatens a potentially disastrous rise in NYC property taxes in what Democrat insider Hank Sheinkopf describes as “an extortion technique to get the legislature to give him the money, or else.”
[T]he math whizzes in Mamdani’s Office of Management and Budget skipped their chance to defend the choices in the spending plan as the council’s finance committee kicked off its budget hearings.
Budget Director Sherif Soliman didn’t show up, nor did anyone else from his office.
Soliman couldn’t make it because he was busy fasting for Ramadan. Seriously:
