Thank God former President Obama is only going to open one library. How many of these self righteous rants can we put up with? I remember when President Bush and President W. Bush opened their libraries; they were grateful, gracious, and political rants were missing.
Here comes Obama and he starts by acknowledging that this building was on stolen land, whatever that means. It was pathetic:
The long-delayed and over-budget Obama Presidential Center opened Thursday in Chicago with a stolen land acknowledgment.
‘We’d also like to take a moment to recognize the original inhabitants of the land upon which we are gathered today,’ Valerie Jarrett, chief executive officer of the Obama Foundation, said. ‘We honor the Anishinaabe, the Council of Three Fires, the Ojibwe, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi nations.’
A who’s who of liberal donors and political elites attended the opening ceremony, including former Presidents Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush; their First Ladies; and former Vice President Kamala Harris. Video circulating on social media showed some of the attendees dancing to music, while former First Lady Laura Bush remained seated.
At the opening ceremony, Michelle Obama described illegal immigrants as ‘the beating heart of this country.’
Wonder if the Obama library was built by slaves too? (See “Obama fails to pay the help” by Monica Showalter.) Or maybe it was illegal immigrants doing the work that Americans supposedly don’t want to do?
This is sick, but then the former president and first lady get smaller, and the criticism of their legacy gets bigger. Notice that they didn’t say anything about ObamaCare or the infamous nuclear deal that Senator Schumer opposed.
And about the stolen land? Just hand the keys of the building to your favorite native American tribe, and tell them to do with their land whatever they wish. Obama should admit that we stole it and then they can turn it into a museum of their “oppressed” history.
