The Chicago White Sox added to their first base depth with their recent signing of the Boston Red Sox first basemen Bobby Dalbec to a minor league deal. One thought of as a staple for the Boston Red Sox at the cold corner, Dalbec so far has not lived up to those expectations.
The 30-year-old Bobby Dalbec
The Boston Red Sox drafted Dalbec in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB June Amateur Draft from the University of Arizona. Thought of as being a promising slugger for the Red Sox, to this point that hasn’t occurred for Dalbec, who has panned out to be quad ‘A’ player. For the Red Sox in 2024 Dalbec only appeared in just 37 games where he had one HR, 11 hits in 83 at-bats, where he had a .133/.217/.193 for an OPS and OPS+ of .410 and 16.
The 30-year-old Dalbec spent most of last season down in the minor leagues where he played in 97 games, had 33 HRs, 111 hits, for a .252/.337/.479 for an OPS of .816. Dalbec ended up getting hurt towards the tail end of the minor league season where he was hit by a pitch in his left hand.

The 6’4″ Bobby Dalbec figures to add the Chicago White Sox first base depth with signing Dalbec signing his minor league deal with Andrew Vaughn being the only primary first baseman on the major league roster. Figuring to get an invite to spring training with the White Sox Dalbec could be a potential player the White Sox look to possibly trade if he can show he can produce whenever he is up with the White Sox next season.
