Chicago Bears’ Ben Johnson has serious message for team after win over Giants
For the second week in a row, the Chicago Bears played with fire.

Fortunately for their playoff hopes, the Bears survived a poor start against the New York Giants to escape with a 24-20 win in front of 58,884 fans at Soldier Field.
Chicago only scored 10 points through the first three quarters against a Giants team that came into the contest with a 2-7 record. The Bears scored the first points of the game to take a 7-0 lead, but watched as rookie Jaxson Dart took away the lead and started pulling away.
The game changed when Dart had to exit the game with a concussion he suffered on a lost fumble in the third quarter with 17-7 lead. Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson only managed to lead the team to a field goal, but Caleb Williams led two touchdown drives in the fourth quarter to improve the Bears record to 6-3.
While the win was relieving for Chicago, humbling wins over the Cincinnati Bengals and Giants are sobering when looking at the future schedule.
Ben Johnson didn’t think Sunday’s win was pretty

The Bears will have little margin for the same errors they committed against sub-.500 teams when they play the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Green Bay Packers in their next four games.
During his postgame news conference, Johnson had a message for his team. He acknowledged that the win over New York wasn’t pretty, but said the Bears need to concentrate on finding a way to win each week and not worry about letting things carry over week-to-week.
“I think we’re going to be just fine,” Johnson said. “Each week has its own story. I keep saying that. So just because we play well one week doesn’t mean it carries over. Just because we play poorly one week doesn’t mean that carries over either. So end of the day, we just need to continue to find ways to win.”
The Chicago Bears’ goal is to play better earlier in the game

Johnson said the Bears goal is to take the next step by putting away an opponent before he fourth quarter instead of having to rely on late-game heroics.
“Now we’d like to take it to the next step as a football team, to where we’re up by a score in the fourth quarter, earlier, early on,” Johnson said. “And we can shut the teams out that way, but that’s hopefully next week. You know, we’ll take them as they come. But once again, we found a way to win, and that’s the most important thing.”
Chicago got away with mistakes against bad Bengals and Giants teams. Eventually, they’ll get burned in the next month if they keep playing the way they did on Sunday.
With the NFC playoff race as tight as it is, the Bears can’t afford to make those types of mistakes when they have an opportunity to beat teams like the Eagles and Packers.
