OTL: Lamar on All the Sacks – “Gotta Talk to the OL About That”
The practice week started with another ominous injury report; however, we got good news that nearly everyone of note outside of Rashod Bateman was back at practice Thursday.
The most important update is that while Lamar Jackson was back, missing practices might be a normal thing going forward:
Lamar Jackson said he’s “good.”
Said given he’s been banged up, this cold be his new normal this season with taking a day off from practice but noted “We’ll have to see what coach feels about it.” pic.twitter.com/mlRxLFwjcU— Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) November 20, 2025
Lamar’s comments might be more on the tongue-in-cheek side, so who knows if it is true. Honestly, if Lamar needs to do this, then go for it. He clearly wasn’t himself last week, and he has been held back by injuries this year, because he isn’t as fast, and the designed QB run percentage is way down.
If an extra day off helps Lamar, then yeah, do it, man.
Although it is embarrassing for this offensive line that got him hurt in the first place, that now Lamar has to take a day off just to suit up on Sundays, and now the pressure is truly on them:

Again, Lamar probably meant this more as a joke, but what isn’t funny is that this line isn’t getting better. Unlike the lies spewed by the head coach, Jackson spoke the truth that this line is still really bad and is only helped by how good Lamar is at avoiding pressure.
Sometimes stats don’t back up how bad they are, but make no mistake, they are awful, and watching the games every Sunday shows how egregious they are. Look, Myles Garrett is Myles Garrett. The problem is that the guys up front make any defensive lineman look like Garrett.
Even if Lamar didn’t mean to call them out fully, they still deserve to be called out because they are the reason why Lamar has been limited and might have to take Wednesdays off for the rest of the season.
It is tiring talking about this aspect of the team, because nothing ever changes. We keep hoping to see something different, and hoping for it at this point is a fool’s errand.
The bad OL leads to other issues than the QB being banged up: the red zone offense, usually one of the best in the NFL, has been putrid, and it needs to be fixed:
Todd Monken: “I’m not making excuses. We have to be better in the red zone.” pic.twitter.com/jPJtyrpy25

Any purple-camo clad maniac will agree that the offense hasn’t had that same juice in a while. The last time they had a great game overall was against the Dolphins. Going up against Brian Flores and then the Browns’ defense is tough, but that is not an excuse for ineptitude. While the o-line is severely limiting what Todd Monken wants to do, the OC has also shown he can’t adapt to the baked-in issues up front.
Stop trying to run up the middle on every first-down play, and please, for the love of all that is good in this world, enough of the sprint-outs in the red zone!
Why would you cut the field in half when you are already working at a yardage disadvantage?
Now, Monken did show some creativity last week on the Hurricane play, and he’s still easily been the best OC Lamar has had, but he needs to figure out a way to fix the red zone issues.
Without that, it will be another failure of the Ravens. With KC and Buffalo both looking like pretenders, that would be inexcusable.
