Chicago Bears expect wide receiver to be good for regular season finale
The Chicago Bears will end their regular season with a rematch from week 2 against the eliminated Detroit Lions. While the Bears have already clinched the NFC North title and a spot in the postseason, the team still has a lot to play for in the regular season finale.

A win over the Lions would give the Bears the 2 seed in the NFC. The 2 seed would give the Bears a highly anticipated third game against the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field. The other key thing about having the 2 seed is the potential of having multiple playoff games at home. With that being said, it is a no-brainer that the Bears will be playing their starters if healthy.
Ben Johnson has now provided an encouraging update on an injured Bears receiver who had a breakout performance during week 17’s heartbreaking loss to the San Fransico 49ers.
The Chicago Bears are optimistic about Luther Burden

During Wednesday’s press conference, the Bears’ head coach said that the team is hopeful that the rookie wideout will be good to go for Sunday’s divisional showdown.
Ben Johnson on Luther Burden’s status:
“We’re hopeful he’ll be just fine this week.”
— CHGO Bears (@CHGO_Bears) December 31, 2025
The rookie went down with an injury following the final play of the game this past Sunday. Burden was then carted off the field, leaving fans extremely concerned. Burden then spoke to the media following the game and seemed fine, giving the team and fans some encouraging signs.
If Burden can practice the entire week, he should be good to go for week 18. The wide receiver has done an exceptional job filling in at WR2 while Rome Odunze continues to recover from his stress fracture in his foot. Burden had a break out game in week 17, catching 8 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown.
If Chicago’s receiving core gets fully healthy for the playoffs, it could make this top-five offense in the league even better and at the perfect time.
